I'd go same again, build familiarity and understanding. Watters has been out a while, build him up slowly. The one position I want to swap is the goalkeeper, but I'd give him some highly scrutinised coaching in the next few days and if he can't come through that, back to Chelsea and Smith does his learning with us.
I'd swap Slonina for Killip myself as a spell on sidelines might do him and us some good. But I'd leave Watters on the bench for this one and try Yogathan or Phillips (if fit) again.
Same as yesterday if available. There was nothing wrong with yesterdays performance until charlton made their subs and we brought Craig on. Get on the front foot and get some goals banged in.
O'Keeffe wouldn't be in the starting 11. We've gone from been strongest down the right and weak on the left to the opposite when there is no need to be.
We've got him some new gloves, he'll never catch it so this way he won't have to get too near the opposition! View attachment upload_2024-10-23_17-11-21.webp
Killip deserves a chance. Phillips will be on the bench at the very least. If we are to play Pines I would rather drop MDG instead of Earl who in the past two games has has a good understanding with Gent in front of him down the left.
We've also made preparations so he doesn't have to worry about getting clattered when collecting crosses.
I’m working on the basis that Connell, Killip and Benson are injured and Phillips is back in contention. Josh Earl is suspended I believe; Slonina MDG Roberts Pines Cotter Phillips Craig Gent Humps DKD Watters Subs; Flavell O’Keeffe McCarthy Yoganathan, Nwakali, Cosgrove, Jalo Though Cotter was showing great improvement so not sure why he’s suddenly out of favour. I wouldn’t mind seeing what McCarthy has got at the expense of MDG but changing 2 of the back 3 at once is pretty risky. DKD would play a bit deeper, more a number 10, with Watters and Humps up top.
