I was too young to see him shot putting at the Olympics but I remember him winning World's Strongest Man and Europe's Strongest Man competitions when I was a young 'un in the early 80s. R.I.P. Big Fella.

A lej of the Strongest Man comps from the 70s and 80s when I was growing up. Like Daley, he had his own computer game (not quite as successful as DTs Decathlon mind).

    RIP Geoff.

Reight lad was Geoff.. there was a bobby at Oakwell that we used to call by the same name. He wasn't as big, but seemed to love a tear up on the Spion Kop.
Once saw him haul out two fans at the same time lol

Aww wow, big Geoff ehh!.
He was the original and best wasn't he, when it came to the worlds best and strongest.
Wasn't there even a video game about him, called Geoff Capes Strongman (similar to Daley Thompson's Decathlon, which meant a lot of fierce joystick thrashing!).

RIP Geoff. Keep finding myself saying this, but another piece of my childhood gone.

Geoff was a proper TV celebrity back in the day wasn’t he? Very popular bloke.
