    Russell ...

Don't forget long strides make a tall person look slow but they eat up the ground .

I should know being 6' 5" I was often described as slow . We take two or three long strides to get up to speed ......

If Watters stays fit he will score more than Cole did last season, too many on here jumped gun as usual, slagging/writing him off early doors

Was obvious from day one. That Russell reads the game well and his awareness of where his teammates are, is second to none. I agree that playing him further up the field is his better role.
Killip was calm and assured. Not much to do, but what came his way was dealt with, without issue.

Mael was superb today. Brilliant performance. Pines dominant in the air and some great clearances, I'm glad they weren't closing us down too much though because he's really shaky on the ball, and with him picking up that yellow, he did well being careful enough not to give the referee any decisions to make

What did Cole get in league goals 17? I can't see it myself but he looks the most likely to get anywhere near.

He's hardly played but they didn't pay anything for him and he won't be on great wages so from a buying perspective its not much of a gamble for a back up player. He got alot of stick but he was top scorer for us 2 seasons running and we got him on a free transfer, we've wasted money on players who have done alot worse.

How's callum styles getting on? Still one good euros/world cup away from the premier league

I suppose with Cole, if you take his goals alone, then a freebie certainly looks worthwhile for a championship side. If we signed a striker on a free after he’d just scored around 20 goals in league 2, I’d probably be pretty pleased with that on the face of it. Looking at the rest of his career though and if you actually watched Cole in games, I think even the most optimistic Devante Cole fan would probably agree that a team that are wanting to be promoted to the premier league is a bit of step up for him. He will be back in league 1, or the equivalent, from January I reckon.

Not sure what Styles has to do with it though? I guess because they’re both at West Brom maybe. Situation suited all parties though with him. He got his move to the championship, we got some money for him/off the wages and West Brom got an international player. Maybe West Brom might be regretting their decision now, I’m not sure I haven’t seen him in games or training but we got our transfer fee for him so should be content.

I thought West brom weren't very well off anymore hence some of their signings. Cole a decent league one striker no more or less and styles who looked poor in league one and Sunderland fans thought was terrible.
Cole could be back in league one but didn't he sign a 2year deal on championship wages so doubt he'll lose too much sleep.

Re Coles wages I'd be surprised if he didnt achieve double his BFC salary. Plus the fact I'm guessing a decent signing on fee.
