Are you on about the diving? If so, think we're better off calling out the grown men in Cotter & Okeefe first mate. I bet he's also learnt a thing or two from his compatriot Ronaldo!
Please tell me there wasn’t another attempt at a pathetic fall again? You’d have thought after the Huddersfield game he’ll have been warned….
Okeefe should get the award yesterday for most pathetic dive, mate - and he managed to win a free kick for it somehow!
It’s not just the diving. It’s the feigning. Had the tiniest of contacts yesterday and went down like he’d been shot in the eye. However he’s not afraid to put his own foot in. At this level he’s gonna get kicked up and down for carrying on like this. He’s young but also Portuguese, where it seems more acceptable. I do hope some of the older pros are giving him a bit of advice, cos he has bags of talent. He just doesn’t need to do this.
At the moment I see him as the next Callum Styles. There’s a lot of hype around him but I’ve not really seen much from him. He shows the occasional flashes of brilliance when he gets the ball but his overall play is pretty poor. He’ll need to add more energy and workrate to his game if he wants to become a regular. Plenty of time for him to prove me wrong though. Jacob Brown didn’t break into our team until he was 21 and Jalo only turns 19 next month
Don’t forget the Portuguese under 5’s coaches know more than us! I’ve not seen a single thing to suggest he’ll cut it
Struggling to live up to the hype so far. Outside of his blatant dives I barely notice him when he's on the pitch.
Every jalo thread is the same loads of replies with the word hype in them. He had 10 minutes Saturday if there was that much hype he would be getting full games.
Must admit, he goes down far too easily for my liking. However, I suppose yesterday it ate up some time for us and if it’s gets us a penalty or 2, maybe it will be worth it. I will also say that he looked incredibly slow when running in behind yesterday. Now it could be that he’d only just come on and wasn’t quite up to the speed of the game and we’d seen Watters easily outpace their defenders all game, but I was still slightly shocked by it. Hopefully he will play all of the game against Donny in the BSM Trophy and then also get some good minutes against Port Vale. In the league games, in terms of attacking players, he is currently behind Humphrys, Watters, DKD, Phillips and Cosgrove for me. I know all of those listed play slightly different roles to Jalo but they’re the ones he often comes on for.
He’s an outstanding young lad, and a very promising talent. But he needs games. Regular football. He’s going through the same situation as Marsh has. Where you get the odd cup game or cameo off the bench. Can’t get a rhythm, pick up injuries and get criticised as being overhyped by fans.
To be fair though we've had plenty of players that have played a lot of games for us that have never shown any flashes of brilliance yet we're judging a young kid on a few 10 minute cameos that has already shown glimpses of quality. We need to be patient with him and judge him when he's got a settled role in the team and a full season of playing under his belt.
If he was good enough he’d be in the team it’s that simple! he trains same as the rest of the team and obviously doesn’t do enough.
If he's not up to starting week in week out at League one level then why is he here, why hasn't he been given a loan at a League 2 club? Absolute waste of time giving 10 minutes here and there. The fact of the matter is I don't think he would even get guaranteed regular football in the League below, so why is he here? Delusion is my best guess, the football manager experts thinking it's our next big money sale but in reality he isn't good enough, yet.
To be fair I thought he took a fair whack in the face when he went down , the Ref was looking the other way which he did a lot of during the game , Jalo did look a bit sluggish running
