There were some important good and bad results for us tonight, in the League. Bolton are worryingly in good form right now, and they won 1-4 at Stevenage, and Vic Adeboyejo scored for them again. And Reading also got tanked 4-1 away at Stockport, so we do go above them on goal diff. Most teams have now played 12/13 games, and that means we'll be approaching 15 games soon, which is a third of the way into the season. If this was a school report for us at this time... I'd say good enough, so far, but could do better (maybe!).
I’d say we deserve to be where we currently are and I expect us to be around the same position come the end of the season. I’m guessing we will know more. In the next few weeks with some pretty decent ties before Xmas. We struggled against Huddersfield and couldn’t get a home result against Stockport or Wycombe who are up there. My guess so far is that we won’t have enough to crack the top 6.
We always have the reserves/academy players to fall back on to strengthen our push to the top. ..... oh hang on.
I feel very much like last season our points total are better than our performances. I felt if it did click into place we had a chance of automatic if not we could finish 10th it never did but we made the middle ground. Your guess is as good as mine but I hope that click will come this season but it's more hope than expectation.
I was watching that L1 blog the other day and he said summat that feels true about us along the lines before I predicted the Shrewsbury score and that Barnsley would turn up not play very well but win relatively comfortably
Still too early to be looking out at other results tbh, the table won't really kick into who's doing what until February/March counts for nothing at the minute. Always felt Bolton would recover and I tipped them for 2nd spot behind Birmingham and see no reason to change, fully expect Rotherham to make a top 6 spot they look to have started to get going.
Can't see beyond Brum, Bolton, Wrexham, Huddersfield and Rotherham for 5 of the top 6. Wycombe are also looking very strong but could fade. A whole host of other clubs to battle for the other spot including us if we ever sort out our home form. Still think we'll be short though myself.
I don't think you'll be far wrong with those predictions at all, Wycombe look incredibly resolute, organised and difficult to beat, it's very much effective football back to front in the blink of an eye.
We aren’t good enough for top six but we aren’t miles off. A good January and steady form until then, we have a good chance.
Yeah and they’ll do a perfectly adequate job when surrounded by better and more experienced players as opposed to all being in the side at once…
Just let me know the last time our fans were the 12th man at Oakwell, roaring the team to success. .... oh hang on.
Sheffield united at home this season With only 6000 home fans in ground But honestly that was the best atmosphere
I went to Mansfield v Brum on satdi. One way traffic 1st half. Stags better 2nd half but brum should of won it. The only thing ill say is they are excellent on the ball, great passing and quick but final third they werent good at all. Scored early but didnt look like getting 3 or 4
Birmingham will win the league. Money they’ve spent is ridiculous. Think it’ll be interesting who gets that second spot and play offs as there could be some surprises. Not overly impressed with Huddersfield and ourselves and Rotherham don’t look a top half side never mind someone who will challenge top six. Same with Peterborough and Blackpool.
