Anyone been. wete thinking off going in March to watch the Rugby League games. Does it matter what hotel were in, are some too far out of way? Where do folk usually stop. A big group of our friends have already book and are in the Golden Nugget hotel, which look on map a bit away from the others. all flights we looking also say stop at Dallas is that normal? Not looking to do it on cheap but this isn't our main holiday so not going mad. Our friends have paid £800 each for a week. It's looking like that for 4 nights now in same hotel Any advice please
Hey Andy, I've been to Vegas a few times and off back in a couple weeks coincidentally. Great place for about 2-3 days, I would recommend staying on the strip as that is where everything is. I think Treasure Island is usually one of the good and relatively cheaper ones if you're only doing a couple days
Excalibur and flamingo are usually cheaper too, you can't really go wrong with any of them really. Most of the hotels are room only unless you want to splash out so take enough dollars to eat out. The portion sizes are bigger, even at macdonalds, burger king and pizza hut you tend to get a fair bit more for your money than you do in the UK. A hop on and hop off bus pass will also help, if you look online you can price one up. It might save your feet a bit too
The Great Western Hotel on the Sttip was good value. Smack in the.middle of the strip but without the themed interior like the Bellagio, Caesars Palace, Viennizia Luxor etc. which are usually pricier. We flew direct from Manchester on a Dreamliner.
There are a number of motels just off the strip. Motel 6 was a decent budget. As long as you’re within a block of the strip, you’ll be fine. For being near stuff. IA decent excursion is to hoover dam and the Grand Canyon.
4 queens hotel has no resort fees. It’s on freemont street “the old Las Vegas” I actually prefer it up there still the golden nugget is run down unless it’s been done out, gone are the glory days of World Series poker there. Norse airlines will get you there direct for under £400 failing that look on Skyscanner, direct flights will be available buy a bus pass for $8 ish dollars a day
I've been 3 times, and as recently as September this year. Previously I've stayed at The Venetian, and also at the Encore which were a bit pricey. This year me and wife stayed in Park MGM which is deemed a mid range hotel on The Strip. Whereas The Venetian & Encore are deemed to be the higher end hotels. Personally we enjoyed the Park MGM as much, if not more than the other aforementioned hotels. Mainly due to its location on The Strip. Also the Park MGM is the only non-smoking casino on The Strip, which is a big plus for me as a non-smoker. I'd also recommend getting an Uber/Lyft to get around, especially if you're going from The Strip to Downtown Vegas.
I've been and still getting occasional flash backs. Old Town will be cheaper than the main strip for sure. That said, ask yourself will you ever go again? We stayed at the MGM Grand in May with all that is Wet Republic and Hakkasan lordy lordy, my only advice is the saline drip is worth it at $70 a go. Enjoy.
I'm going for trip number 12 in December, and was there in August with the family. First thing to decide is whether to stay on the Strip or Downtown. I prefer downtown, as it's cheaper and has better value gambling (lower stakes, better odds) if you're planning to indulge. I go primarily to play poker. Most hotels now add a mandatory resort fee to the daily rate. If you want to go as cheap as possible, find one that doesn't. Room rates go up massively on weekends so consider shopping around and staying at a couple of different places. If so, do downtown at the weekend and the Strip on the cheaper days. Vegas is a real Marmite place to visit. People either love it or hate it, but you won't lack for things to do, but recommending specific things is very much dependent on what type of trip you want. Any of the Cirque du Soleil shows out there are worth seeing, but expect to pay $80 a ticket for them. Previously I used to hire a car when there, but there are very few hotels now that have free parking. Treasure Island is one on the Strip, but the resort fees and parking charges are the two things to look out for when booking. I've stayed at the Nugget a couple of times, which is right in the heart of Downtown. It will likely be the most expensive option there. 4 Queens will be a lot cheaper (I'm booked there for part of my trip) and the prices at The Plaza are worth a look downtown. Prices on The Strip will vary massively. Bellagio, Venetian, Wynn/Encore, etc are great, but pricey these days. Somewhere like Paris, TI, Excalibur or the newly re-named Horseshoe (formerly Harrahs) might be better value for Strip choices.
Stayed in Luxor. good rooms and accessible to strip from top. liked downtown and the Hoover Dam/ Grand canyon tour. Head down Freemont street for the Sound and Light show. Go up the Stratosphere it's got rides at the top and the Deli food joints are brill..
Ahh Vegas, the Blackpool of America. Expect a similar crowd to what you'd see at a Trump rally. That aside it can be a fun place, I have to go a bit for work and can't quite decide if I love or hate it. Stayed at the Encore, Bellagio and Waldorf Astoria. Waldorf is best, on the strip, but without a casino, so you can escape the madness. My advice would be to get out of the city. Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon and Zion National Park are some of the most stunning places anywhere in the world. A week is a very, very long time for just Vegas.
Over a decade (which seems crazy) since I went for my 30th. Stayed at New York-New York which was cool, but also had 2 nights at the Bellagio around my actual birthday. Things I’d recommend are: - Visit the Grand Canyon, it’s one of the few things I’ve ever seen that you can’t get a grasp of from photos/TV. - Helicopter ride, I did one over the Strip at night which was unbelievable. I’d love to do the Canyon one but probably a fortune - I loved the Bellagio due to its fame (loved Oceans 11!), and the fountains are incredible. They also did amazing all you can eat brunches (presume they and many hotels still do). As another poster suggested, perhaps do a few nights cheaper and a couple more upmarket - Play poker! I’d played a lot online before going but never face to face and came joint first in a tournament which paid for all my spending money for the week. It only cost about $80 and lasted 4-5 hours so it was also cheap gambling even if I hadn’t won anything. Sure as others said you can fly direct. I went from London then but surely Manchester flies direct? Enjoy!
