Got every bit of abuse he deserved really. If you start giving the away fans some hammer when you score expect it back.

Was hilarious watching him throwing a paddy when he got subbed off with all our fans chanting “what’s the score” and him throwing his stuff in the dug out.

Never really understood why players celebrate in front of the opposition fans. Go and celebrate with your own fans and team mates

It’s pathetic childish behaviour to celebrate in a goading , provocative way in front of the opposition fans. Lots of players do it, including our own. I remember Moncur going OTT with one after scoring against Sunderland at the Kop end a few years ago. He was lucky some of them didn’t get at him.

All this running to the corner flags or directly towards the other team’s fans really winds me up, especially when they make tram lines with their stupid knee slides. Celebrate scoring of course, but there’s no need to turn it into a long pantomime performance.

Yep, Gent did it at Shrewsbury after Watters had scored, and the Blackpool fans were complaining about Connell doing the very same following our winner from his corner.

Fans give it, should be able to accept a bit in return.

I don’t particularly have any issues with players celebrating in front of our fans. If an opposition team score in the Ponty End (and they do regularly) I wouldn’t expect them to “do an Adebayor” and run to the other side of the pitch.

However saying that, it grinds my gears when they do a provocative celebration though i.e. shushing the fans or cupping their ears.

I quite like it tbh, gets crowd going, can always remember vardy doing it in front of Ponte end and can remember thinking what's his problem until I realised he was a Wednesday fan. They don't care about us though.

Jamie Lindsay who will play against us for Bristol Rovers in the next round was just as bad when he scored yesterday.

Watched the FA Cup highlights earlier and there seems to be a massive increase in players running towards opposition fans, winding them up. Not condoning any reaction from fans apart from the odd sign but it’ll end up in violence one day and that said player will be wondering why he’s ended up with a broken jaw.

Is it? I think its always been the same mate. I always remember Adebayor running the full length of the pitch to celebrate in front of the Arsenal fans when he scored for City, now that was mental

Every single one of them is an absolute weirdo. Theirs and ours. There is nothing natural whatsoever about 'celebrating' goals in the way that modern footballers do. Whether you're doing a knee slide in front of your 'own' fans or the oppositions, you're a ******* weirdo.

A clenched fist towards the fans, maybe a jump up in the air, those are natural human reactions. In the old days, a few strong handshakes with teammates. Anything else is just manufactured, pre-determined theatre from a bunch of people who ought to have far more significant things to work on for the supporters that fund their lifestyles.

    Humbug.

I’m assuming some of the posts above are tongue in cheek.
Football is about scoring goals so I have no problem with just about any celebration be it waving at fans or taking your shirt off and I’m big enough not to be too wound up if opposition players give some back if they score.
Always remember Blake being given dogs abuse by our fans when playing for Sheff Utd and then scoring at the Ponty End. He gave some back to the fans and then a number of Reds fans being affronted because of it.

The weirdest one I saw was Rhian Brewster for the blunts in front of the Ponte a couple of seasons ago. Not only had no-one said so much as a boo to him, it was also a pre season friendly!! Really weird behaviour.

Oh come on. If we played Wednesday in a friendly and someone like Norwood scored & celebrated like that, we'd love it

I think this point was raised on here last season, when a scoring player went out of his way to wind our fans up in the Ponty.
I can't remember who it was though, and which team etc!.

Paul Wilkinson when he was at Watford. Scored in front of the Ponty and then jogged full length along the touchline giving it a constant V to all and sundry in the Main Stand lol.
