Who ‘ can all get ******’ The Muslims who have never called for a ban? Those who don’t wear one for whatever reason? I’ve often thought about this, when growing up, whilst we all were aware of Remembrance Sunday and its importance, there never seemed to be this ‘ disrespect if you didn’t wear a poppy. Most families will have been affected by family loss from the 2 World Wars, mine included, but wearing a Poppy or not, was never an issue. Obviously there have been conflicts since and sadly death and injuries are inevitable both military and civilian, so it does still bring it home, but there is this tendency to hijack and nail a political mast in the name of Remembrance.Edit, I wear a poppy and have other merch from the RBL

I also saw one saying " we eat pork and drink beer' this is England" the question you want to ask them is " who says you can't"?. Absolutely potty.

Don't think I've really even heard this one much.

Now countries who follow sharia law and their records on women's and Gay rights I have heard about.

    Yay religion.

Some of our descendants went off to war - some got blown up or shot or gassed or at least had no idea what would happen to them and were left with their lives changed.

If they hadn't done that, our own lives would no doubt have been the poorer.

So we should respect that with a poppy.

‘Should’ there-in lies the potential fall-out. Things can be respected without displaying ‘visual’ signs. I choose to wear one and don’t expect to, or even judge others that don’t. Not saying that you do, but saying ‘should’ wear one is too much for me

If you want to wear a poppy to signify your respect, do so. I do.

If you don't want to, whether that be because you don't feel the need or don't support the cause, then don't.

It shouldn't matter to anyone whether you do or don't. It's a personal choice, just like supporting any charity or organisation.

    Fair enough.

Does that mean that you keep your money in your pocket?

You were talking about your descendents going off to war. The vast majority of your descendents haven't been born yet

If there was someone that is always giving a chunk of their earnings to charities, but doesn't give to the poppy appeal, would you think them a bad person?

Quite apart from the poppy itself, this bit of it always winds me up. Why do we rely on charity to support people who have served in the armed forces to live a full and rewarding life? It's bad enough when it's something like homelessness, which to be fair is only tangentially caused by the state.

I always feel bad about not giving to the bloke outside the supermarket, because I don't carry cash. Sometimes I return to him with a can of lager.

To answer your question, it is "no" obviously, but if they're so charitable why can't they chuck a bit in for a properly worthy cause? No harm done.

Ones beyond the preservation of their own liberty?

You don't even have to do a monthly direct debit like you do to the donkey sanctuary.

Just a couple of quid. Once a year. But never mind.

You have been given the right to find more preferable causes.
