Yes…..massive fish as standard. Cash only tho. You should try it and make your own mind up. My guess is you won’t be disappointed.
For any of you who suffer from coeliac disease, all of Ian Keeling's stuff is gluten free. My daughter in law goes there for that reason and has never had any problems.
I very, very rarely have fish and chips unless I'm at the coast, Rydle Terrace fish and chips shop was bang on but they have changed ownership.
Darns on Summer Lane closed now and up for sale. Keelings up for sale as Ian is moving away. Surprised Ypas get so many mentions due to portion size, although the product is ok. Always used to like the mermaid in town, Danny Mallin (Rate my takeaway) enjoyed them when he called in with Callum Simpson.
Hemingfield Chippy improved leaps and bounds. Started doing battered Pigs in Blankets. Cod and Haddock always fresh and cooked to order.
Been a couple of times since it was on whoisits YouTube channel they are excellent old school well done chips n batter worth the 30 min trip every time tunstall cross and the one in the square in Brampton my fav local ones
Living in Royston means I have to travel out to find a decent chippy as we don’t have one in our village. Generally I go to George A Greens in Wakey or PJ’s at East Ardsley. Both are fantastic and nobody in Barnsley can beat either for me. The best I’ve had in Barnsley tho is Tunstell Cross at Wombwell and Darfield Road Fisheries in Cudworth. IMO they are the best in the Barnsley area. I’m sure other ppl will differ tho. Not tried the Hemmingfield one but cooking in beef dripping is right up my street.
Shafton 2 gates is great but expensive. Recently had the one in Dodworth whilst on a training course at the Holiday inn and it was fantastic.
Darfield road fisheries, Cudeth. I travel from Wake. Massive chunky cod and batter with options ie slightly battered etc. Loads of chips...also will do special sizes if you phone it. Lovely fish and a top bloke...Steve.
