Go on then who? You keep harping on about this but don’t provide any evidence of who may, or may not have been ‘overlooked’ as Leader of the Labour Party.#hurtingtoriesgettingdesperate

A shocking debut at PMQ's. It takes a special kind of non entity to get beasted by Keir Starmer.

Record of all ethnic minority and/or female candidates in Labour leadership elections:

In 2020 Lisa Nandy came last and Rebecca Long-Bailey was eliminated in the first round of voting.

In 2015 Liz Kendall came last and Yvette Cooper came second last.

In 2010 Diane Abbott came last of 5.

In 2004 Golden Brown, Texture Like Sun won unopposed

In 1994 Margaret Beckett came last

Prior to 1992 no female or ethnic minorities stood.

Seems like there's only really one party with an institutionalised Gammon problem amongst its members in the UK

Well that's certainly one way of reporting the outcome when there were only 3 candidates.

I could have reported it as no female or ethnic minority candidate has ever polled more than even the worst placed male candidate in any given leadership contest, which is also true and even more damning.

    The Gammon Party.

That's actually a pretty damming indictment when you put it that way - the only people women have beaten in Labour leadership contests are other women.

I know you're a bit thick but please don't call me a tory, like most voters in the UK I'm right of centre so the tories have long since lost my vote.

Oh am I, and you call Starmer ( I’m far from his biggest fan) and you say it’s hard to imagine a bigger ******* in Parliament. You don’t have to imagine at all, just look back at the last 14 years and also look across at the opposition benches. #hurtingtorieslashingout.

Margaret Beckett and Harriett Harmen (twice) have both been leader of the Labour Party. Albeit temporarily and for just short of 1 year between them.

Beckett for 71 days after Smith died. Harmen for 138 days after Brown stood down, and 128 days after Milliband stood down.

Edit: And if anything happened to Starmer, Rayner would be PM and party leader.

Badenochs 2nd PMQs and I think it might just have been even worse than her first.

I'm getting definite hints of lettuce.

She's hilarious. I'm especially loving the obviously fake posh accent. She won't last 18 months. Cleverly in before the end of next year.

At the rate they are churning through leaders, Cleverly would be better holding fire until after the next one. Just so he can fight an election.
