He has recently posted about John Deere. They are planning to move manufacturing to Mexico to cut costs so has announced if they do, anything sold into the US market will attract a 200% tariff. It will be interesting to see what impact that sort of policy will have. I guess the USA is big enough to be able to do that as they could whip up their manufacturing significantly. On the flip side it could harm any US exports as other countries could end up refusing to buy anything American. It's 50/50 as to whether it would be a positive move.
They all have 4 years to sort, Trump included. He said he was going to build a wall and make Mexico pay. Didn’t finish the wall, Mexico didn’t pay. He said he’s going to round people up and send them back. How do you think that’s going to work? If he even follows through with it. After 4 years of talking down the country, I think we’ll see him play a lot of golf, sell a lot of bibles and sneakers and tell his voters they’ve never been as well off, and that everything’s great. That’s pretty much all they need to be happy.
The wall did actually end up getting built along the main border areas. Kamala's recent idea was actually the same thing ironically after the Democrats scoffed at this for 4 years. Immigration has gotten significantly worse the last 4 years
Just find it disgusting that you would seemingly prefer thousands of people to die just by trying and compare what's happening with Nazi Germany and the agreement drawn up with Chamberlain. Sooner that conflict stops the better. It's not even remotely the same circumstances as with Hitler.
Only 80 miles of wall was built where there hasn’t previously been one if this is to believed https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-46748492.amp
You're suggesting a policy of appeasement towards an expansionist dictator land-grabbing in Eastern Europe. Sounds pretty ******* similar to me.
Honestly not fussed who won that election But I'm enjoying the meltdown. Harris tried to use famous folk like Beyonce to influence her voters and its backfired because normal working class people will not listen to celebrities. I'll add to the fact that if he does stop the war in Ukraine, it would be a good thing whichever way you look at it.
Yeah I see your point of view. Suppose its like the meltdown we had over here in the summer when Labour won the General Election - there were plenty of Tory tears around that time.
Wasn't much competition for trump, you had Biden who belongs in a carehome while running the most powerful nation in the world replaced by like you say Harris who tried to use famous people and it back fired. Funny to see David lammy backpeddling after all the things he's said about him. Calling him a nazi not so long ago then today tweeting congratulations.
I disagree with the first point. Trump did exactly the same thing. He’d even got Elon Musk handing out money. Roseanne Barr, Hulk Hogan, Kid Rock and Ted Nugent all amongst those rolled out at his gigs. Stopping the war in Ukraine sounds great, but if it means giving part of Ukraine to Russia, then it’s achieved nothing but Russias intended land grab.
I’ve lived here since 2018 and can guarantee you that the majority of the country is doing much worse since 2020. I also think there might be a little manipulation in your statistics because no one here seems to think anyone is being paid more and any time I fill up it’s way more expensive.
There’s a house next to me in LA who has had hired armed security outside his house for two days with big signs in his years saying ‘Latinos for Trump’ and ‘gays for Trump’. No joke
Yes but you are forgetting he’s a narcissistic, power mad lunatic. And they’re all scared of him. He’s going nowhere until he’s at the pearly gates, or hell.
People keep saying this, Trump used loads of celebrities, just different one that he felt would have more ‘everyday Joe’ appeal.
You are missing something though. The system political and economic isn’t working for people. It doesn’t work in the US and doesn’t work here. You can have all the graphs you want showing GDP has gone up but the real experience of people is that they cannot afford a decent life. As the centre left fails to offer change the far right steps in and offers lies and of course people will fall for it.
I was more upset that despite the Labour "lanslide" the electorate shifted further to the right overall and I think this trend will continue at the next election. Much as it has across Europe and in the US.
