As a Wendy in my very early formative yrs. 7/8 (1964-65) sad circumstances stopped me going. Then I was shown the light by my cuz. We sit together even today and I allus tell him off for the amount of money I've spent lol. Who do I want to win ? I couldn't care either way. I wont be watching and no interest in the score whatsoever.
22 man brawl fa hand out 10 game ban for the lot of em. Massive and I mean massive fines handed out and the mad man from s6 puts them into administration no takers they go to the wall oh and a late blunts winner, it only Carlsberg did dee darr derbys .
I used to go to Hillsborough as well around that time but only when the Reds were playing away. There were special buses laid on from Barnsley bus station to the ground and back (hard to believe but there really were!). This was before blanket tv coverage of football and it was a thrill for a young boy to see First Division players performing in front of a big crowd. I didn’t go regularly, just now and then. In those days both Sheffield clubs were in the top division. The contrast between that and very small Oakwell crowds watching a struggling team was huge but I never, EVER considered the Owls as my team. It was just to enjoy the novelty of seeing international players doing their stuff and, of course, you just had to turn up at the gate and pay your shilling to get in. No advance tickets nonsense back then.
Surely it makes sense to do the reading followed by the minutes silence then end with the last post when the burglar finished it singles the end no need for the ref to get involved.
Absolutely shocking quality. if this is the standard of a team in the top 3 then the Championship is in a dire state.
That's a red all day long for grandad bannan isn't it? Studs up, extremely late, goes straight through the player, no chance of getting the ball
Early on I thought this ref will loose control of the game. Only thing that saved Bannan was he did touch the ball. Rubbish game though.
To be fair 12-30 on sunday doesn't help the atmosphere. Everyone we've played at around that time has been the same as apposed to wendies evening game and that 5-30 weeds one that was a cracking atmosphere best in recent memory for me.
I’m pretty sure Campbell (up front for United) just went 50 minutes of professional football without touching the ball. Takes some doing. Wednesday the better side. But that’s like saying earache is better than toothache.
