Good point, so far this season Killip hasn't but then in the past he has made his fair share of errors.

I dont know how old you are .
But as an owd git, what you'll find imo. Young goalies are great shot stoppers in general. We've had a few ourselves. Walton. New. Horn, Rhodes. All imo at least on a par with Slonina on that front. Its whether they can develop their other skills. To become a Muller or Watson.
Being able to read a game and experience counts for a lot. Some spectacular saves are just that. But more experienced goalies don't try having to do that. Positioning etc.
It's why I would stick with killip as No.1 at present. Some spectacular saves/chances from Slonina have come about due to his faults and weren't needed in the first place.

Conpletely agree with this. Sloninas all round game and awareness is exceptionally poor as is his decision making. Good goalkeepers don’t need spectacular, they keep it simple and relaxed and read the game placing confidence in their defence.

I’ve seen nothing of Slonina to think he’s a top goalkeeper anytime soon. He made various saveable saves I’d expect of anyone between the sticks, he’s made a lot of catastrophic errors, only some he’s been punished for.

At this time, Killip should be afforded a long run in the team and Slonina should be at Stamford Bridge. A great outcome for everyone.

The fact is we've kept as many league clean sheets (two) in 3 matches with Killip as we have in 11 with Slonina.

I don't think that's due only to their goalkeeping abilities but to the increased confidence and assurance the defence now have.

It also would seem convenient that Slonina's stated injury period takes him neatly to the January transfer window. I think it's best for all if he goes back to Chelsea then, potentially to be loaned elsewhere.

I know that as a central defender ( or any other one for that matter) I wouldn’t be happy with Slonina behind me. The guy is so unpredictable , you don’t know if or when he’s going to come for the ball and if he does it’s likely to be in very wary way likely ending in a soft punch that leaves the ball in or around the danger area.

Not sure I would read too much into that just yet - his 3 games have been away at bottom of the league, a league two team and then against a team that offered zero attacking intent.

While this is true, he probably won us two points with his save from Rotherham's only effort in target. I still have my doubts about Killip, but he's really not put a foot wrong since he was recalled to the side.

Again I don’t dsagree it was the only save he had to make. I just don’t think he’s been tested fully yet. It’s Killips shirt to lose now.

I would have been disappointed if he'd let that in. It was a weak side foot shot, almost like a back pass. He had that much time that he readjusted his footing to clear it with his right foot. He didn't put a foot wrong but I wouldn't say he saved us 2 points.

How has he saved us 2 points? He saved one goal and we scored 2!?

If he lets that one in its 1-1 and the remainder of the game takes a completely different course. Any outcome would have been possible from that point on.

Goals change games - no guarantee we'd have scored again if they'd made it 1-1.

Killip is a better choice even just for the fact he can kick it. Slonina had the kicking prowess of a Gerbil with a wooden leg.
