If they were to do that with Joey Barton it might save everyone a lot of aggravation.

Hope he's booked a return flight, he'll need it in about 6 months

It will I imagine not be paid by the taxpayer. Nor will they necessarily be already employed on that day.
It would more than likely be covered with police on overtime.
Like policing inside football grounds is chargeable to the club themselves (Definitely SYP). Not the taxpayer. Hence cheaper to hire more stewards.
I'm guessing Blunts v Wednesday had very few police in the ground. But many outside to prevent any public disorder. At a cost to the taxpayer. And in overtime to boot.

Er, no. Sorry, but I thought everyone knew the biggest club in the world is to be found in Sheffield 6.

To make it worse isn't it technically a man who is on holiday is getting a police escort? He isn't legally allowed to work so what exactly was he getting a police escort to?

You underestimate arrseholes. Anyway, between Ringway and Old Trafford you have to go through either Wythenshawe/Northenden or Sale. Plenty of numpties there just on the streets.
