...used by fans as an "explanation" for poor performances on the field:

    • "He's lost the dressing room." Where? Down the back of the settee?
    • "His legs have gone." Presumably to the same place as the aforementioned dressing room.
    • "They've downed tools." Because footballers are well-known for not trying when their club is involved in a promotion battle.
    • "He was a panic signing." Sounds reasonable, with clubs spending millions on data-driven recruitment. I'm sure I heard one or two people suggesting that Humphrys was just that.
I'm sure there are plenty more.

I can’t stand the social media soundbites. I.e. the ones all clubs copy each other with.
“Tekkers” how is that even a word?
    “Limbs”
    “Well in lads”
    “Go well”
and my pet hate for our club…
    “Them Reds”

"Go well" properly boils my urine. Along with "nothing doing".

"A game of two halves", sadly seems to have gone out of favour. At least that one is factually correct, unless extra time is involved...

    'This football club'

    As in:
"He's a player that fits this football club"
"Their manager is well thought of at the football club"
"I'll continue to give my all for the football club"
"I expect to be still in charge at the weekend unless the football club tells me otherwise"
"Listen, this football club is bigger than any one individual"

Wilder is fond of using that one, all the time. It’s as if we need to be told it’s a football club and not a tennis club, or a social club. Irritating listening to him anyway but that one grates on me

Personally I hate it when they say "football club" instead of just club. They're talking about football so why keep repeating the word, we KNOW!

Referring to the ‘football club’ is something that’s crept in over the last few years to the point where everyone seems to do it. Agree that’s it’s really irritating.

    This "LIMBS" business.

I can just about forgive 10 year old YouTubers. But grown media professionals and Match of the Day commentators jumping on it? F**k off.

Come up with your own clever phrase instead.

Its petty but I detest when "football" gets shortened to just "ball".

"You don't know ball" on every single comment which has a difference of opinion.

Same with people calling Liverpool "Pool"

    Just feels so American. Meh

To be fair though, particularly to managers/coaches, it must be very difficult to come up with novel answers to to the same old stock questions that they get asked week in week out
