Don't disagree with many players listed. But I very much disagree with the order...

Steve G number one, when you have Zola and Ginola below him...

Very debatable I guess at least.

Pelé seems a bit of an oversight as well.

You aren’t seriously arguing that Ginola was a better all round footballer than Gerrard?

I'm more arguing about Steve G being number 1 if anything.

Given the choice of either who I'd want playing for us at the height of their careers, yes I'd probably go with Ginola. Appreciate others won't or hold different opinions.

    Paulo Maldini.

As an aside: (Did Peter Shirtliff play for us in the Premier League? He was in my Premier League 98 sticker album but says he retired in 1997?)

I don’t remember him starting any games but he was a sub more than once.
My memory isn’t good enough to recall whether he actually played

    Longevity comes into these too.

It’s like when they talk about the greatest premier league players of all time.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s the greatest player to have played in the premier league by some distance but he doesn’t get ranked above Henry or Shearer on most of the lists as he was only in his prime for probably 2 seasons in this country before he joined Real Madrid.

Didn't Shirtliff play against West Ham on the opening day of the season?

I appreciate its opinions and all that. But never understood the Gerrard hype. Good box to box, workhorse midfielder. Better than most at it don’t get me wrong, but plenty in that list I’d rank above him.

I've a mate who's a Liverpool fan and he genuinely thinks I'm deluded when I say Gerrard was overrated. Like to the point where they think he was the best midfielder in the world in 2005.

He wasn't. He wasn't even the best in that Liverpool side. AC Milan were mugging Liverpool until Benitez brought on Hamann to cover Gerrard's weak defending.

Xabi Alonso was miles above Steven Gerrard.

I wonder how many Liverpool fans remember that assist Gerrard made to Thierry Henry that time hahaha

edit: Just done some research, Gerrard actually made two assists to Henry.. one for England Vs France in Euro 2004 and one for Liverpool Vs Arsenal the year later. Gerrard must be amazing to be giving out assists to opposition players. Not to mention Demba Ba too, Chelsea Vs Liverpool to give Manchester City the title
