You’ll not believe the price of ale. If you have time visit The Eagle. It’s where DNA was discovered and the RAF bar is special. Squadrons of airmen stood on each others shoulders and wrote their squadron ID on the ceiling using cigarette lighters and candles. It all preserved.
Long way from the ground but Cambridge is worth a weekend.
    See you at the game.

Totally agree, spent some very happy times there, including the Eagle. Lived just off Parker’s Piece. My local was the Free Press which was another great pub with a lovely snug.

I walked it a few times from there to the ground, 20 mins or so.

We're making a weekend of it. Can't wait. Haven't been to the city for a good 25 years. Saw Stephen Hawking tearing it up in his wheelchair, which made my day. Last time I went to the football there was even longer ago - Wayne Biggins scored twice for us in the first 15 minutes.

As for the price of ale - £6.50 and more in Lincoln if you want something drinkable. Expecting at least that in Cambridge.

We're off for the weekend from this evening. My alma mater, not that it did me any good, still ended up on here with you dickheads most days, so much for an elite education.

    See you there.

That was my first Reds away game, in 1992/93. I walked to it, as I was a student there at the time. Must have been around this time of year, as the Jingle Bells song was used to celebrate the win.

Was only a kid at the time, excellent if very chilly day out. Remember the view from the seats being absolutely atrocious!

I'm a John Smiths man.A few years back in Bristol before the match I asked the landlord for a pint of what his locals drank. He served me a pint of flat beer and charged me £4.50 for the privilege.
    Give me a Johns everytime.

John Smiths was my drink of choice as a more than slightly underage teen drinker. Fastforward at lightspeed many years and it's rarely if ever seen in my southern location, that'll be 20 miles below Nottingham. Very south.
Now a few months ago I found myself in Mexborough with the mrs......an essential visit to Edwardian bedding...another story, after perusing their divans we felt parched and the first pub we spotted was the Montagu Arms, in hindsight not the best place to parade my South Yorkshire roots to a cultured slightly fragile female.
Alarms should have rang on entering what was a busy enough place at around 2pm on a Monday, populated by solely single males, the youngest being approximately 85 and who appeared to be sharing eyes.
Things took a turn positively, when I spotted that appropriately aged nectar that was John Smiths.
Now the mrs, being an enlightened type, often just has the same as me, so witnessing my glee, we were both looking forward to this elusive pint.
    Well, it were bloody orrible.
Never again and I've no chance of introducing her to Barnsley Bitter.

Wasn't quite sure if it was bug bears or bugbears or indeed BugBears, as this is the first time I has reason to use it.;)
