The windies have gone out and won this game (assuming they see it through now); England haven’t lost it. I don’t think the bowling has been terrible; it’s just a flat pitch you’d want to chase on. I’ve watched some sport today, feel like my backside is welded to the settee. Exeter Lincoln wasn’t great, our game was ok, England were pretty crap in the rugby again against a massive South African team. Littler was unbelievable in the darts, Anderson took advantage of Van Veen’s form drop off whilst I flicked between that, France v the all blacks and the cricket - and the cricket has been an ok watch too. This game will finish just in time for me to go to bed to get up and drive the lad to Halifax tomorrow for his colts rugby union match v Old Rishworthians. I’ll watch England tomorrow whilst he’s at work at dominos… Not bad for an international week when there’s usually no football on. (I’ll point out I have done a big shop today, two loads of washing, cooked the kids tea and done two lots of pots as the middle kid has decided she’s a master baker but is yet to master the cleaning up afterwards bit - so I haven’t been a complete slob whilst the Mrs was at work…).
Boycott won't be a fan. Get him dropped off Pujara. India have that many good players from the strength of the IPL that they could make a 4th 11 capable of giving a game to other nations.
Maybe not - twitchy finish. Still favourites but I didn’t see this going to the last over, seems likely to now
They've won, 2 good boundaries to end and the highest run chase at the ground! Off to bed now, goodnight everyone!
Our Football team only drew to one of the worst teams in the league. Our countryman lost his Boxing World title in Saudi Arabia. Our Cricket team lost in West Indies. Our Rugby Union lads lost to South Africa. At least Luke Littler won at Darts.
Cricketers have no off season. England women start a tour of South Africa next Sunday. 3 t20s, 3 ODIs and then the first South Africa test match for over 20 years. The most expensive ticket prices for the test are 80 rand which is £3.49. All four days in the sun of South Africa for £14 quid. Bargain.
What's gets me is (other than Bairstow doing Yankee Doodle swipe n' thrash with Root in 2021). Why can't we chase big totals down in test cricket? We bash the ball all over in the shorter formats and play like that under "Bazball". So why does 350 target over 50 overs and 180 over 20 get spanked away with ease? When 350 over three days we lose after 50 overs. I'm genuinely lost .
