I know the lads not the tallest but he's got to be practicing his headers in training. Two sitters he's missed last two matches.
As I’ve just put in the MDT, I wonder, after seeing Nwakali today but not being convinced (yet) he has the defensive ability and awareness to play holding on his own against better sides, whether we change things a bit and play home with Connell in a two, wing backs either side, and have Phillips and Russell support the striker (prob Humphrys in the main); DKD as an impact sub to switch up and compete for a shirt with Russell and Phillips. I’ve seen little from him to convince me he’s worthy of the guaranteed start he seems to have each week.
I think if DKD hadnt cost around three quarters of a million, he wouldn't be getting so many starts. I think as the fee we paid is big by our standards and it was known we had been chasing him ages, we feel we have to play him.
I thought he was largely anonymous and the only reason he wasn’t substituted was we had no replacement on the bench. Im not 100% convinced we can play him and Phillips together, we look too open.
Luckily Humphrys scored or we would have been calling him greedy for not squaring it to DKD for a tap in and would instead be talking about another DKD goal. Next weekend he might just be the fall guy for Nwakali to keep his place.
All good strikers are a bit greedy. It was a good finish, especially after running 60 yards. Poor keeper positioning helped but maybe he didn’t realise how good his left foot is
That cross from the right came at him like a rocket and a tad too high so i think he should be allowed a little leniency.
We've been crying out for players that get you on the edge your seat for ages. Now we have two in the same side in DKD and Humphrys. Cut the lad some slack.
We thought that too. Bit harsh for anyone to slate him for missing that. I wouldn’t describe it as anything close to a sitter
Personally think it is, he only had to guide it to the net and it's a goal but got under it, someone like Billy sharp puts that away, but all about opinions
Having been there yesterday I was a little surprised at all the talk of him missing a sitter as the only header I remembered him missing was in my mind exactly as you described
Gerrart, I would have knocked that in wi mi left ar5se cheek on a Sunday morning after 12pints neet afooer
I'm still not sure about Dunn. I certainly don't think he's a forward. If Watters can keep fit (which isn't certain by any means) then he partners Humphreys for me and i'd prefer Phillips over Dunn. Its early days but my initial instinct is we've overpaid for him.
He’s basically what Mansfield fans told us he can be anonymous in games and then pop up with a goal etc out of nowhere.
Cambridge were basically doubling up on him whenever they could, which created space for others to utilise.
Yes, I thought so too. I think anybody would have struggled with that cross, cos of the pace and cos it came straight at him.
