Can anyone remember who we were playing when they announced that the whole team got man of the match? I don’t think i’m making this up. It was a while ago though.
Was it the premier promotion season? I seem to recall us winning 4-0 with Neil Thompson scoring a beauty
May have happened then but i didn’t start going till after that season so it sounds like its happened a few times.
We had this question not so long ago. Man City, December 28th 1996 Their fans took offence at Toby wiping his arse on a toilet roll they threw on the pitch before chucking it back in amongst them. They spent most of the second half singing "I'd rather be in Barnsley than Barbados" because their chairman who they wanted shut of was on holiday over there. Now, if I could just remember what I had for dinner yesterday...
They might have done it more than once, but they definitely did it at that match, I know for a fact. It was the only match that I went to with my girlfriend of the time and when they announced the whole team were MotM she complained that it was a bit cheesy.
My wife's only ever been to oakwell once ,the 7-1 against Huddersfield. I'm amazed she never wanted to go back
I think I must be included in this team of the match debate. I took 5 penalties in front of the ponty that day and scored 4. It took a fantastic save (Mulleresque) to stop the other.
Shame about how the season ended. Two of our greatest seasons 99/00 and 20/21 and I can't watch them back. In league 1 22/23 wasn't bad either but have same feelings there too. Can watch Liverpool and Chelsea games back from cup run but still can't bring myself to see Odejayi miss again. As for Man City match. A great match and fantastic memory. Blackburn at home was too.
