I’ve read this three times and I’ve no idea what point you’re making. I think it’s that other places are nice too? Or others are rubbish too?

You can’t have spent much time in Barnsley if you think you can’t find green open space within 30 mins. I live in Town and I can walk to plenty within ten mins.

I think you’ve totally missed the point of what folk are saying, of course there loads of places a lot nicer than Barnsley but you can’t deny where the town was a few years ago to where it is now, the council have made a fantastic job in regenerating the town centre,

I doubt that anyone from Barnsley would deny it has some not very nice parts. The ignorance is all yours if you fail to acknowledge the improvements to the town centre, and the natural beauty of our surrounding ares - especially towards the Pennines.
I had visitors from Surrey a couple of months back. They were gobsmacked by the walks we took them on around Cawthorne, Langsett, Silkstone, Stainborough.

For reference - about 25 minutes walk from the bus station. I had to stop and take a picture the other day.

Dearne Valley Park is a 5/10 minute walk ... may come as a shock but there are good and vile people everywhere you go.

As a Merthyr Tudfilian I am Endorsing many of the above comments - Barnsley is a brilliant place to live - over the years town planners have done a fine job and managed to have modern buildings fitting in well alongside older buildings. Stunning countryside on the doorstep etc.
Comment from Taff relatives visiting recently was how impressive they found the entrance to the town from the M1 - (Penny Pie Gyratory.)
Mrs RT a Barnsley girl and Barnsley has been an excellent place for our children to grow up and be schooled.
    The natives friendly and sociable.
And one of the towns biggest assets BFC - lets cherish and appreciate the club.

He certainly has I can walk for 5mins tops & I'm in the Dearne valley park, 10 mins & I'm in lock park 15 mins & I'm on the Trans Pennine Trail. The town centre is brilliant, plenty places to eat & drink, you can go bowling, 2 cinemas to choose from & of course B.F.C.

Personally, I've never known the town look better than it does now.
