Exactly. I like that I have loads of walks from my house. Kent hasn't got the same dramatic scenery as Yorkshire either, I know which I prefer.
Have you replied to completely the wrong post? In fact is it completely the wrong thread? Nobody has bashed anywhere in this, they've just praised our excellent town centre
Yeah my post doesn’t make sense. I apologise to everyone. I should have made it clear that my post was a verbatim quote from another poster, who offered his views upon Barnsley a few years ago. I still hold a grudge, I’m afraid, about his view of the tarn. I’m sure he now is of the opinion that Barnsley is no longer a shithole. Although he hasn’t yet said as such. Things have certainly changed for the better in the town centre at least. Bless him. Oh and by the way although strictly speaking not a native I live in and love Barnsley and will never move away. Unless we start playing home games in Elounda.
Despite living just 10 minutes from Huddersfield town centre (I now live in Meltham) give me my home town of Barnsley any day! What an amazing transformation to the town centre. My 2 boys loved it today apart from the game and shocking weather. The square was absolutely buzzing after the game with lots of families about! It's just got a fantastic feel/vibe about it! Fair play to Barnsley Council for what they have achieved a far and in comparison Kirklees are an absolute shambles!
I think that as well lol, and I even clicked like on it at first. I thought hey hes just joking, and maybe doing a spot of amateur fishing. But maybe not!.
Well I've read some ****** in my lifetime. We quote towns. You harp on about greenery in counties. Well you may be surprised we have loads of that in the surrounding areas. Not even mentioning YORKSHIRE. All within half hour of Barnsey town centre. You'd choose not to live in Barnsley. NO one is asking you to. Believe it or not. most people choose to and it just shows how ignorant of the town the area and the vast majority of people you are. You go on about racist bigots. Cos you met 5 people. You need to get out more. Quite frankly I was admin I'd ban you for your bigoted overview of our town. And the members of this forum. Edit Ps just read your apology. Feel free to pass on to the true bigot. But let's be honest it was either a wind up or a big mistake to have not mentioned it was a verbatim quote from someone else.
I honestly think the transformation of Barnsley town centre will be taught in universities as a textbook exemplar of urban development. It's superb.
Knew I'd read this b@ll@k$ before on here , who was the author of this nonsense originally?.......sithi.
You're probably right. The Council won 2 national awards including one for 'Best transformation of a town centre'. (good job they couldn't get funding for the 'walled Tuscan village' concept they were pitching for a few years earlier!) Things turned out better in the end
Me and my granddaughter went into town straight from the match. Ive always loved my town and most of its people but the display in the town centre takes things to a different level. It was stunningly beautiful and I found it quite moving.Standing there with my little sidekick Yesturday meant the world to me and I couldn't think of anywhere nicer to be. Always be proud of your town and your heritage.
