Just watched last night’s highlights and that Sheff Utd sending off was a disgrace. He was goaded by the Coventry player while on the deck so foolishly got up and pushed the other player who went down clutching his face.

One hand on the neck, the other on the chest. No punch, nothing violent but the Cov player stayed down until the fracas was ended by a red card. Yet again blatant cheating and conning the referee.

The worst of it though was the sly wink and smile caught by the camera as the poor lad who had been “felled” celebrated with his team mates. If that is not picked up by the EFL and the Red card cancelled then they are as corrupt as that vile, cheating player.

Should give the impending ban of Sheff U player to the Coventry cheat, he would think twice about trying to con again

When will VAR and TV replays be used to punish feigning injury and play acting?

If only that kind of common sense applied! Surely the Blades will appeal but I bet they fail.

    Wigan cheats.
That guy who got subbed just before half time yesterday, with an injured foot - went down clutching his face and punching the turf in agony. Managed to get play stopped and possession turned back over to his team when we had a good scoring opportunity. How is that not simulation? At a minimum bookable in my view. Yes he was injured but play only stopped because he made the ref think it was a head injury. As soon as it became apparent it wasn't, he should have been carded.

Totally correct but it was just typical of the day’s cheating and appalling refereeing.

But that doesn't excuse the cheating. Going down holding your face when you haven't been touched on the face is cheating

Sending off all day but the way he reacted and then the winking and kiss blowing highlights everything thats wrong with the game today.

It’s an all too common thing at all levels and it’s just getting worse. There’s so much about the game now that I just despise and I keep wondering why I bother watching these cheats. After just over 60 years following football I think that habit is coming to an end.

Yeh its just acceptable nowadays int it' you hear the commentators saying " he won a penalty" or " he won a freekick" like its some sort of achievment to get fouled.

Cheating in any sport is not in the meaning of the name. Hence sporting behaviour.
I dont see how anyone achieves satisfaction. Not playing in the spirit.
Win at all costs. Is a blight on any person or team.

I’m have a solution for head injuries and the stopping of play, they should follow the concussion rules of rugby but have a minimum of 10 minutes before they are allowed back on. That would stop all the cheating

Yet in the pampered prem, a Leicester player went down injured, didn't get the foul or a stoppage and Chelsea went up other end and scored

Back in the day there used to be under the laws of the game an offence for “Ungentlemanly conduct”. It has been superseded by “Unsporting behaviour “ under law 12 and warrants a yellow card. The Sheff.U player was rightly red carded because shoving an opponent in the throat is violent conduct and a red card. That said Bassette’s provocation was ungentlemanly conduct, unsporting behaviour which in my book is just cheating.

Wigan were that bad with their cheating I thought Ainsworth had got their managers job.

Wigan will of course say it was good 'game management' - another modern day phrase that certainly involved cheating yesterday. And the referee was complicit in it time and time again. He stopped the game whenever they went down and allowed the physio to take as long as they wanted to break up any momentum we might have. Wigan made a fool of him and he bought it over and over again.

Oh, and his insistence on slowing the game down whenever we had a free kick particularly when there was a booking and he stood on the ball whilst he wrote down the name drove me mad. With the exception of the last 15 minutes we were too slow in everything we did without the referee slowing it down still further!

I agree. It's time for this to happen to stop the cheating. Allow a temporary sub on but make the 'injured' player go through a concussion check and keep them off for 10 minutes.

Tell that to Billy Bremner, Norman Hunter etc (I know they're dead) but for goodness sake they would turn in their graves. This head clutching acting, rolling all over the place because their haircut's been ruffled, even Barnsley players are at it. It's shameful, embarrassing, demeaning, and a huge blot on the game
