They would be too busy , it's time they stopped calling it simulation and called out the cheating gits .
Yeah the "win at all costs and cheat if you have to" mentality, its disgraceful. Is it even coached into them at an early age now I wonder.
I agree with everything your saying but in the current climate if you raise your hand to another player its a sending off and thats exactly what he did.
Sheff Utd player - sending off everyday of the week in today's climate: Coventry player should have gone as well - two yellows: one for screaming at the Utd and pushing him down by the neck - the other for 'simulation'.
The thing is though, for instance, if it's a genuine head injury to Nwakali (for example) caused via a bad challenge from an opposition player, why should we be punished for it by losing a player for 10 minutes? I get your point though - I would do the same thing but perhaps allow the temp sub. Instead of no sub for that 10 minutes, maybe you get the option of keeping the new player on or taking him back off for 'injured' player but then it counts as one of your subs anyway & the player coming off cannot come back on later..?
The worst one was the one in the second half when their player went down in the middle of the pitch. The ref went over to him to wave the physio on and their manager starting waving his hands to say no, but the ref (and probably the only thing he did right all game) insisted the physio came on, so the player had to go off. I would have loved it if we’d have scored whilst he was off. It’s the standard thing now, to waste time, a player going down, but not needing treatment after all. They should make it a rule that either the physio is brought on and the player goes off or the game carries on. However, when a player requires treatment after a foul and the free kick is given, the player committing the foul should also be made to leave the pitch whilst the injured player is off. It’s unfair that the team who injure someone then gets a one man advantage for 30 seconds (or however long it is). Yes, I know this will be abused by having disposable players going down to win a free kick off a key opponent, getting him removed from the field, but it’s up to the referee to spot when players are diving or feigning injury.. Most of all though, retrospective bans for clear and obvious cheating need bringing in. Diving would stop immediately. And how come if a defender is deemed to have brought down a player, as the last man, he gets a straight red for denying a goalscoring opportunity, yet if the striker is seen to be diving over the last man, in order to create a goalscoring opportunity, he only gets a yellow card? Should be the same punishment. Both are illegally attempting to influence the outcome of the game. If they brought in retrospective bans for diving, Jamie Vardy wouldn’t have reached 100 games yet!
The game is being ruined at all levels by play acting and players rolling around on the floor like they've been shot. If you are in real pain you don't move around a lot like a lot of them do. It got a lot worse at the Euros I noticed and its carried on from there. Utterly embarrassing and not a good example for kids watching.
Yes it’s definitely getting worse and, along with all the rest of the rubbish surrounding the game, it’s making me seriously question why I bother with it. Without the attachment to my lifelong club I’d have given up on it long ago
I'd completely change the way we deal with injuries. First thing I'd do is stop club physios from coming on the pitch. Instead it would be an fa appointed medical official who's job is solely to make a quick assessment and that assessment would be to classify the situation in one of 3 ways. The player can walk. The player cannot walk but moving the player will not cause harm. Or the player cannot be moved without causing serious harm. If they can walk then they leave the pitch and receive treatment. If they cannot be moved without causing harm then the game stops for as long as is necessary but the player can take no further part in the game and must be substituted. If they can be moved without causing serious harm then they are to be moved using an adapted wheelchair with all terrain wheels on it. The injured player must staff off the pitch for three times as long as it took to assess and move the player. If it takes a minute then you stay off for three. Oh and if you go down holding your head you exit the game Theyd soon start to get a move on.
