People need to remember there’s a big difference between a manifesto and the reality/plan.

Manifesto is what a potential government would like to do. The plan is what they’re actually able to do when they get in - the two things are always gonna be different, it just depends how different. I’m not sure there’s a huge amount you can say they have veered away from the intention or direction of the manifesto, just the details of it.

Isn't a manifesto a "five year plan"? So, Labour has 2-3 years to put into place the "National Wealth Board" or "Reformed immigration system" so it is in place well before the next election. I don't know how anyone expects them to have it all ready to go immediately - these things take time. It can take me a month at some clients to get a simple change request approved.

Difficult decisions were always going to have to be made after 14 years of Tory rule.it’s obvious to me you can’t expect to just keep taking money from the rich,us who are not so well off have to pay our way too if we are serious about getting out of the mess we’ve been left with.

There will have been 100s of thousands of those who say don't like the tory party. Will have voted for em. Cos of their utterly selfish own greed. The only person you can totally trust on voting is yourself.
Works ballots showed me that. I told my colleagues as their rep, dont vote for a deal when taken back in house. (although recommended by the hierarchy of the union) Because we were being shafted.
MOST VOTED TO ACCEPT Claiming they didn't but the numbers didn't tally.
WE GOT SHAFTED. In the region of 6 figures in some cases through lost pension rights.
I then personally spent 3 yrs fighting through the ombudsman with the backing of those same colleagues who fell into the trap. to no avail.

Over 6m signed a petition to reverse Brexit. I don't think half of those were Russian/Nigerian bots either

The rich have been protected at all costs for over 10 years, while the regular person has been slowly shafted. The rich have to pay their way too if they're serious about their patriotic spiel

My take is a very simplistic one. I think calling for a general election now is quite silly.

How come they weren't calling for general elections during the 14 year Tory shítshow? Oh, that's right, they're Tory voters who've got the lip on because their party didn't get elected back in.

Over 6 million signed a petition for a second Brexit referendum. Didn't get us anywhere and this Reform UK inspired petition won't get them anywhere either.

I might start a counter-petition entitled "Just let the government get on with governing and stop creating stupid petitions". Might do ok.

I don't think it's a Tory petition, it's Reform UK. Apparently there is very strong correlation between Reform UK subscribers (not members, they don't have any), constituencies where Reform polled well and the first tranche of signatories to the petition. There is also a suspicion of bot activity. No doubt it's being heavily promoted by Musk's algorithms on twatter as well.

Times [Tory Central] Radio reported this morning that Musk was encouraging his drones to sign it.

Exactly this. Get ready for 2029 it’s only going to get worse. The only solace maybe there god Nigel won’t actually want to be PM as he won’t be arsed to actually do any work.

A bad precedent looks to have been set in Romania over the weekend. A far-right, Pro Russian candidate with no party appears to have won the first round of their election. Lots of Romanians today are asking who he is. It appears his campaign was almost completely on Tik Tok.

Governments are going to have to do something about the social media platforms if they want to stop them being used by their enemies.

As a wise man said nearly 30 years ago, for useless twisting of our new technology, oh, now there is no sound. For we all live underground.

Their president role is fairly powerless on the whole, bit like our King as head of state but with limited extra powers.

To be fair, you could put a Union Jack on this and you wouldn’t know if you were talking brexit 8 years ago or 2024 election.
