There's someone suggesting that a player should be excluded from the national squad; which is de facto 'forcing' them if they want to have an international career. All this anger and hysteria and these ludicrous demands for explanation/justification are far more damaging to this cause than if Guehi and Morsey had just been quietly ignored.
I personally would have worn the armband because of the 5hit storm it causes not wearing one. Imagine if he had worn it. There'd be nothing to write about this week in the sports pages. Virtue signallers outing homophobes whatever next?
I don't care if McLean doesn't wear a poppy that's his choice. It's the way he conducts himself that makes him look a dick and his seemingly hate of England although he could have always stayed in Ireland and played football there.
Its this culture of not wanting to promote something as being anti something and the notion that he needs reprimanding that doesn't sit right for me. Especially in sport. As it's supposed to be "inclusive". Well respecting people's right to remain silence should be valued as well. We're great in this country of finding sticks to beat people with.
Yes. Out homophobes. They're an embarrassment to a civilised nation. How many times, it's not 'promoting' being LGBT. Just saying LGBT people are welcome in the Premier League.
Then we could have if you don't wear a rainbow vest your homophobic, sack him I don't want to work with that bigot etc. No one should be forced to wear anything, a poppy, rainbow laces whatever.
I'm saying that if Guehi is a homophobe and the FA decided not to pick him, I wouldn't quibble. I also wouldn't wet my knickers if he is clearly homophobic and he did get picked, but then maybe LGBT people would and I'd sympathise if they did. Is wanting football to be welcoming to LGBT people really a ludicrous demand?
He's refused to support LGBT inclusion in the Premier League. And for me, failed to explain it in a way that would prevent him from looking homophobic.
Because he won't wear a band that he has to otherwise he's homophobic. I'm not sure the gay community care at all..
You know, it's like clockwork isn't it? The appearance of the same names who don't do politics but seem to get their knickers in a twist if someone is an ally to women, the gay community, the trans community or ethnic minorities. This is England.
Because its literally the only reason not to wear it. "Hi Sam. Please wear this armband promoting something that is against your religion" "No" "Hi Sam. Please wear this shirt that is sponsored by something that is against your religion: "Cool, sign me up"
That’s my whole point with him he clearly thrives off the aggravation he causes and our fans will give him **** tonight no doubt when really not even acknowledging him would probably wind him up more.
Matic for United chose not to wear one... no problem at all I don't get forced to wear a poppy, rainbow laces a armband etc in my job no one should be forced to do anything it's not China.
Again I’m not arsed on his stance. I just think our fans will wrongly fall into his trap tonight as I have seen every time he’s been involved in a game. When I think he would hate it more should he not even be acknowledged.
More great ideas. You are on a roll here. though we already have rainbow lanyards and rainbow bootlaces on our sites. And no one kicked off about that so society is unsurprisingly ahead of you on your initial ideas. For clarity no one should have to work alongside overt racists, sexists, homophobes or misogynists. Certainly if you are in a leadership role you need to take a lead on this pitting aside your personal views.
I suppose the point is him saying the reason for not wearing it is his religion. His religion is bigoted. Just like Christianity for balance.
