The same people on here who jumped to james McLeans defence are the ones most triggered by Sam Morsey.. funny that.

I said on here the other month no one should have to wear a poppy and McLean has his reasons not to like matic did. But he seems to have a hate for England, posting a pic wearing the Spain shirt before the final, singing anti English songs. I said maybe he should have played his football in Ireland instead of England if he hates the place so much but he wouldn't have made half as much there, the usual suspects who are criticising morsey were on my back.

    What an idiotic comment.

The death of Justin Fashanu & Gary Speed, as just two examples makes your post either uninformed, or just homophobic. I'd delete that one now, if you sober up, or take a long hard look at yourself in the mirror.

Nobody does have to wear a rainbow armband. But if you choose not to wear one for "religious reasons" despite not having religious convictions about other things then it's clear that religion is just being used as an excuse for bigotry and you're rightfully going to get some stick.

Just for balance, the difference between Christianity and Islam is that there is an intellectual tradition of Bible interpretation which changes the meaning of it over time - no one reads and teaches the Bible today with the same ideas as they did in 1460. The enlightenment and reformations dealt with that. Therefore today you get an extremely wide opinion about homosexuality in Christianity ranging from the disordered/going to hell, to the fully excepting - incl Gay married vicars trans vicars et al.
The Koran on the other hand is still interpreted like it’s 1460 and is not open to interpretation- hence the disbelief in a wide range of things not least of which is Darwinism- Hence there is a very narrow interpretation of what to make of homosexuality mostly that you better not do it or else. So, no, not the same really.

False equivalence; however misguided, McLean regards the poppy as a symbol of British imperialism. An idea which in practice has spent the best part of several hundred years dumping on the Irish. I don’t think anyone can accuse the LGBTQ+ minority of perpetuating genocide on the direct descendants of Sam Morsy.
So yes I support McLean, but disagree with his interpretation, and no I think Morsy should wear the armband or quite rightly get called out as a bigot.

Come on Fonzie. You can’t honestly believe that it’s a like for like?

One’s a club sponsor that a player has no control over. The others a personal choice to wear a rainbow captains armband of which he’s the only person in the team who wears it as the captain.

If he was seen going in & out of a bookies or caught gambling personally then I can understand the comparison & I’d also call him out as a hypocrite but you can’t honestly expect a player to be able to dictate to the owners about who’s sponsoring the club.

No, he can't dictate to the owners about sponsors. But if he's so religious (as he claims to be), he can ask for a transfer if his employer asks him to wear something against his religion.

There are plenty of other clubs he could play for - he's playing really well and is a good player. There'll be plenty of suitors. .

He's just a homophobe - as was Demba Ba (apologies if it's not him, but I think it is) who I think did similar.

Not surprised by that retort. That's why it's a strained argument not worth engaging with the virtue signalling bullies. There's an "are you gay post" somewhere else on this thread too. Thank f cuk for the ignore button.

If you can't see that was tongue in cheek to a post that was straight from the Stone Age, then I don't know what to tell you.

Excellent use of Virtue Signalling though.

Absolutely sickens me that homophobia is allowed as long as you say that your homophobia only exists because of your made up sky fairy telling you to be a homophobic bigot

I can’t honestly believe that anyone expects a player to uproot his family & demand a transfer just to please strangers on the internet who are calling him a homophobe.
