Me too. Perhaps the biggest factor in my gradually falling out of love with my club is this utterly boring wing-back system. Added to the fact that we have no ball carrier in midfield. And, as far as I know, we have nothing coming through our vaunted academy system that might approximate to such a player. Utterly boring, and I’m not sure I can stand much more of it.
Not going to happen, he doesn’t trust our full-backs in a 4 so he’ll play 4 CB’s. We haven’t got any Wingers to play that system without throwing a CM out there. Next…
The chance has gone. We had a great opportunity to come away from 3-5-2 in the summer with the wages freed up & the departures of Cadden & Williams but the club are adamant 3-5-2 is the way to go
Love the sentiment but we’ve no wingers and no full backs who can defend. Get on blower to Hammill, Isgrove and Aidy White! Not sure we’ll be able to tempt Bree back mind……
You could argue a case for Cotter left wing (lol) with Jalo right. Earl left back, O'Keeffe right. It would be ........ interesting
Might as well play without strikers for all the good it's doing at the moment. 4-6-0 is the way forward.
Like but if you're going with fantasy then lets have Connell at left back playing a Cancelo type role where he can step up into midfield. This would allow us the start with Nwakali in the middle and allow us to go from 4-3-3 to 3-4-3 when required
Ok my thoughts on it (as January is coming) -----------------Killip--------------- Cotter---Roberts---Pines---Earl -O'Keefe-Phillips-Connell-DKD- ---------Jalo------Humphrys-------- For now. Until we get a LB and a proper right winger in. Surely Clarke can fix it with a bit of funding
It wouldn't be boring if it was played the right way. Nobody can say we were boring during the Wilson promotion season or the couple of seasons after when we played with wing backs granted our players were much more talented than the present bunch but so we're the opposition. The wing back system isn't the problem the negative way it's been played for the last couple of seasons is.
Agree, they've put all their eggs in the 352 basket, but then massively failed to recruit (a) a proper striker and (b) any quality wingbacks to be effective. How the hell we end up deciding we need spend most of our budget on a NO:10 in a 352 system is mind blowing
