This wasn't just booing mate which is frustration by some. And understandable on occasion, but this wasn't one of em. As we on the whole deserved a better outcome. It was vile abuse of the highest order, mainly young teenagers to a man competing with their mates and others as to who could impress the most, with arms frantically waving. Pathetic really.
I didn’t boo I did clap briefly and then cleared off - difficult to praise a team too much who clearly turned up for a point and lost and on the back of 5 poor results in total. They have been backed in good numbers this season away and the support was good during the game - we know we can’t keep clean sheets and now we cannot score either a recipe for a bang average side which we are that was most evident last night - nothing on our bench to change or influence proceedings so if plan a doesnt work we drop points consistently.
I think you're right Hf.Another minute and the fans would be applauding the team off for a well deserved point. I get that football is an emotional game but to see the anger in some young kids faces wasn't emotional it was more tribal.I was as disappointed as the next man when they scored but vile abuse never came into my mind. Interesting reading a few comments from Wrexham supporters on my way home.Quite a few saying that we're the best team they've seen this season. We regroup and go again on Saturday.I feel the overall performances are not been reflected in the results.
It sounds like we kept it tight, and definitely should have gained a point and a clean sheet. But we blew it after 92+ minutes!!. I'm sort of ok with that though, as it's away at a real promotion challenging team. And how many fans thought we'd get thrashed there to begin with ehh ?.
I haven't been to a game in around 3 years now. Still watch on line but I really don't care anymore. Its a but sad really but I think overall I've fallen out of love with Football in general. Don't enjoy the way the game is played these days.
It's this kind of thing that the TV cameras focus on far too often, usually when a goal is scored. If there is very small divide between the two tribes present then those fans whose team has just scored (some of them, not all) can't help themselves with their arms outstretched, hateful expressions on their faces, hand gestures, vocal abuse etc etc. I think it's just pathetic behaviour but is symptomatic of football crowds everywhere I think, and often in society in general where we see street unrest almost every day. Sorry if I'm being over sensitive about this but why not just jump up and down and shout with joy because your team have scored? This taunting of the other team's fans is not only obnoxious behaviour but it can lead to trouble. Of course those doing it are the first to complain if missiles come sailing over the divide and hit them. I keep saying this but sooner or later there is going to be some SERIOUS trouble at grounds. Players baiting the other team's fans instead of just enjoying the moment amongst their team mates; fans doing the same - it all adds up to enough provocation to tip some neanderthals over the edge and some people are going to literally go over the top with weapons in their hands and we'll see a return to the hooligan behaviour of decades ago, before the fences went up. It's this kind of stuff that causes me to doubt whether I want to bother going any more, along with other things of course. I've certainly called time on away days - I did that some time ago - and I am getting less and less inclined to travel to Oakwell on match days. Bad weather or good weather - the motivation is gradually ebbing away.
What you've described here is what used to be known as a solid away performance. We were desperately unlucky to concede and lose what would have been a good point. It's not the away teams job to entertain the crowd playing risky one touch scintillating football. Their job is to achieve the goal set out for them,,,,IE: play for a win or a draw. I'm no footballing genius, but some of the comments on here display a worrying lack of understanding.
It shows how fickle our fans are ,they were 2 minutes away from getting a standing ovation for getting a point ,instead they ended up getting booed
I thought you'd be watching Ibiza Town,or Pefkos Rovers,or Paphos United or Crete City etc etc. Only joking Roy by the way.
I saw it and thought the same. It reminded me of Huddersfield away earlier in the season, granted that was a terrible performance, but the pure what seemed like hatred on some peoples faces and the gesturing was pretty weird. I just look at them in disbelief. It’ll all look even weirder if they put a few results together.
I suppose when you turn a blind eye to assaults taking place in your stadium, fail to actually ban anyone for racist or religiously motivated chanting in the stadium over a 2 year period and continually sell away tickets to easily identifiable yobs then you cant exactly be shocked when you end up with a large minority of yobs attending your games. Let's play a game of guess which part Oakwell they usually sit in
