It was Brook that was dropped five times (18, 41, 70, 106 and 147) on the way to 171. Our players were dropped seven times in total. Glen Phillips dropped two and he's one of the best in the world at catching. On another day we'd have been needing 300+ to win.

I turned it on whilst they were taking lunch. Turned it off, rolled over then my alarm went off at 7am.

 

Went to bed at lunch. It's a shame nobody else could chip in with Brook and Pope. Depending on how close we are to batting again, I might watch a little bit after lunch this evening.

 

For anyone who's not seen it, the trophy for this series is made out of cricket bats used by Martin Crowe and Graham Thorpe to score hundreds in previous test matches between the two countries. I can't think of a better way to celebrate the game and these two fantastic players.

Its certainly looking like an exciting Test series, with both teams playing attacking cricket.

People have had worse first six months in test Cricket.

 

So what are we going to be defending in the 4th innings, 350+ runs maybe ?.

 

There is no cover in the squad for either opener. Crawley is having a mare but there is no pressure on him.

 

Another poor test by Crawley. He needs some big runs in the final test.

 

I think Crawley is unlucky. Poor shot execution but the right shots. I'd keep the faith. Very elegant player.

Bethell reminds me of David Gower.

 

It's a strange test match because time isn't a factor. It might take a shed load of runs from England to secure a win. Likewise a larger chase might be possible.
