And asks who I support. I'll say Barnsley. If my mates want me to go as a carer I'll attend Oakwell. I'll buy kits for George.

I'm done though. Makes me ill. Totally sickens me after a defeat.

Just 5pm. Have we won? Have we drew? Have we lost?

I used to feel that way after a loss but in the grand scheme of things there will be another game in a week for us to fret over again the life in between that is what really matters.

Weirdly during the game today I did wonder why we confinue to pay money to watch something that ultimately leaves us frustrated more than happy more often.

That's why there were only 10k home fans, probably fewer in reality if they just counted tickets sold rather than bodies through the gate.. We parked up at 14.10 at the disabled riding school and there were only about 10 cars there. The car park at Hoyle Mill was half empty too.

    People voting with their feet.

I've been going 50 odd years and the only time defeat bothers me... for a short while, is if I feel we've been cheated ....other than that I don't give it another thought...football is well down on my scale of importance.

Being a Dundee United supporter for sixty years I’m no stranger to defeats and horrific cup final results. Been sick more often than you can imagine.
Remember someone saying there is always someone more disappointed than yourself. Never found out who mind you but possibly you might be that person Steve.
Just support your team. Enjoy the good times and try not to let the awful times get to you.
Either that be like many plastics and follow Chelsea or Liverpool.
    Not the same fun mate.

You don't sound like you're done because you sound annoyed.

I had a season ticket from being around 10 until 37 ish i think. Then I stopped, that's was around 3 years ago, Covid throws me out a bit as I had a ticket still but obviously we couldn't go.

In the style of T.S Elliot it is with a whimper not a bang.
I didn't throw my toys out or stomp my feet. I just realised I didn't really care anymore. I didn't look forward to going to games and I was missing more and more.
I still want us to win, still call Barnsley my team. Maybe I'll return in the future, but it's apathy that's is the death of a football fan, not anger.

My younger self would be at odds with my current one for sure.

I have missed the last 4 home games. I’m not trying to make a point or ‘vote with my feet’ etc. I feel no umbrage towards the club or players, but I just can’t be arsed to go to home games, so if I’m given the smallest excuse, I’ll stay at home and watch on telly.

I fully get the ‘thick or thin’ thing, but the thin comes with toxicity, and I don’t want to be amongst that if I don’t need to be.

I was at Wrexham and will be at Exeter on Saturday, but until things improve at Oakwell, I’ll probably carry on in the same fashion.

I just enjoy the aways better. Good company, different scenery, more chance of seeing a win. I just find it so much more appealing.

    Same.

It was personal issues that stopped me going after Covid - and I found that I didn't really miss it and that the cost of a matchday just wasn't worth it.

I still watch us when I can via whatever means I can on TV, but I've no desire to start going to games again.

Yeah the days are long gone now, where a league defeat on Satdy, would ruin the rest of the weekend for me.
And its the same with England going out of a tournament as well.
We always move on no matter what, and tomorrow is another day, etc!.
