Tamsulosin is supposed to shrink your Prostate, it definitely didn't shrink mine. I haven't heard of the procedure you mention. Must be summett new since i had mine removed.

    Sounds delightful.

Mind, I've had a few bit and bobs up my todger, when I had a kidney stone in 2015, including 2 stents and a laser fragmentation device. I think I spent more time in the bogs at the Walsall away playoff leg than I did in my seat...

Sorry, yes it was cancerous, went to Jimmy's for a bone scan after all the poking and prodding and they were clear.

Brother had prostate biopsy recently - uncomfortable but o.k. - traces of blood in urine and semen afterwards quite normal.

NO please don't avoid a finger test ( can't remember proper name) as the Doctor can feel if it's enlarged or not. It's not bad but i wa glad when it wa over.

The Probe was uncomphtable but its not for long, the 10 biopsies were ok, didn't feel anything but the noise at first made me jump. Worst of all for me was the MRI scan in that tunnel, get claustrophobic but i ever opened my eyes.

I'd love to know why we're still using such a daft test when it's been proven to be unreliable and there's a more effective less invasive alternative out there

I've had one. For most people its not wholly discomforting. I however was in agony as I had severe piles at the time. If you've no issues with your bottom you'll cope ok, honestly.

Apparently there is now a saliva test they can do which is quite accurate

Digital rectal examination (DRE). Don't know if you have to see Dr Dre for it.

(MRI scan a bit less intrusive, I'd have thought!)

Finger up your bum is pointless, unless that's how you roll, it's the PSA blood test you should insist on. My doc thought I was fine after his examination, but was quick to ring me up the next day when the blood test results came through.

Did they spit on it before putting finger up? Joking aside. My Dad has an enlarged prostate because he's a larger person. He had high PSA because he is a larger person. Always advocate a Healthcare professional but hope this makes anyone feel marginally better.

One of lads in my local thought he had prostate cancer and it was his tubes. Turned out it was his kidneys and a good lasering increased his flow.

My fatha had prostate cancer (thankfully recovered after a month of radio), so I went to docs about 6 weeks ago to get the ball rolling. He said it's normally PSA test first but as I was there he'd do the 'finger up bum' (his exact words). He told me then that it was slightly enlarged, but gave no other details. Gave me a form to go to blood centre. It was about 5 days later I got there and another 4 or 5 days waiting for results. Was crapping misen for that time. Anyway, came back all clear thankfully.
