If it’s true that Assad is kipping on Vlads sofa, what’s in it for Vlad? Also, Mrs Assad was born and brought up in England, so given her relationship with both Tyrants, is she now a security risk to the Uk?

His wife is likely to be stripped of her British passport. Her parents who live in London for their own safety should never come back to the UK, who currently are consoling their daughter and son in law in Moscow.

Assad was training as an ophthalmologist in London when his older brother died in a car crash. Without that crash, the entire Middle East would be a very different place.

Apparently they’ve been bombing Syrian airbases and military sites to stop the weaponry getting into the hands of the rebels.

    Very true.

I also think it shows our maturity levels. You correctly spelt ophthalmologist and I purposefully avoided it & said eye doctor instead because I wasn't willing to challenge myself to spell it correctly:D

To stop Isis, Hezbollah, Houtis, Hamas, Al Queda etc.etc.getting hold of Syrian weapons and ammo, Tanks, fighter aircraft and worst of all WMD which we know for definite Assad's forces have because they've used chemical weapons regularly during the civil war. I'm guessing the Israeli forces are doing it with the full knowledge and secret approval of certainly the West and probably all though they will never admit it Turkey Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States who will publicly denouce Israel but quietly be thankful that in Turkeys case The PKK and in Saudia Arabia case the Houtis aren't getting hold of the stuff being destroyed.

If Putin doesn't accommodate him and hjs family, other despotic leaders might not be so keen to buddy up to Putin for fear of being left to the rebels when it all goes tits up. If I were Assad, I still wouldn't stand near a window or have a drink with Putin...

Believe it or not I actually know someone who knows or knew, Bashar Al Assad....who at the time was only the President's son and not that well known.
Back in the 90's a friend worked for UK's most prestigious snooker table company, they got the job of supplying new tables (and recovering the old ones) to the Syrian Presidential residences. My mate was was flown to Damascus, when they landed he was a bit worried as he was taken off the plane by several dangerous looking men and told to get in a limo....no passport control to go through. They went at 100mph to one of the Palaces where he was introduced to Bashar. It turned out Bashar was a football fan and had visited all the Div1/PL grounds including Hillsborough where my mate was a regular. From that first conversation Bashar looked after him, taking him on the razzle to Damascus' fleshpots for Vip's....playing poker with Syrian Generals etc...he said he felt naked as everyone carried a gun but the only squeaky bum moment was when he was going driven at high speed through the desert by one of Assad's top security men....a blue light came on behind them and they were pulled over for speeding by the Police...as the copper approached the car, the driver pulled out a large pistol, which sent my friend's brain into overdrive....the copper tapped on the car window and after a brief conversation resulting in a salute to the car driver, the driver emptied all the bullets from the magazine into the copper's hand...the Security man then drove on explaining that the bullets were as good as currency in Syria.

Assad's regime had Chemical weapons - if they fall into the hands of the Taliban spin offs who've taken over, thats' not good for anyone, particularly Israel. Other Arab nations are moaning about the bombing, but I think in this instance Israel is absolutely within their rights to neutralise that sht.
The biggest winners here are in fact Israel and Turkey, also secretly the other Sunni powerhouse - Saudi Arabia - it shows that Iran has been fundamentally weakened by their proxy war with Israel and also Russia could not help either due to their war in Europe.
