No way they were/are going to vote against was there? Too much money in too many pies. There is no morality in 'big' sport. Its all power, money, influence, back-scratching.

This is why i don't attend, even Oakwell, much anymore. It's obvious to a blind man that money is the driving force now. The likes of Barnsley aren't welcome in the higher leagues as there isn't enough of a revenue stream for TV. I'm convinced referees have a memo for which clubs to favour each season

    Very disappointing.

If I am still here in 10 years and compus mentis, I could well boycott the event.

    That'll show 'em!

Whilst I deplore Saudi human rights issues. I'm surprised no other bids were submitted. Even though it generally means the host country does not recoup the investment. Saudi certainly won't imo. Hence sportswashing to try to be seen in a better light.

The half-time entertainment of stonings and beheadings will be a change from the norm, I'll give them that.

Because it’s a closed shop mate. They decided to vote for 2030 and 2034 World Cup together with 2030 being in Spain/Portugal/Morroco I think. They all greedy barstewareds and all piss in same pot

They basically stitched it up. Due to how the system works a continent that’s hosted the previous one can’t host the next one.

Due to Spain / Portugal - Europe, Morocco - Africa & Uruguay - South America it basically means that it’s going to Asia with North American been split between US, Mexico & Canada in 2026.

I don’t think many Asian countries can afford it or have any interest in hosting it. There was a bit of talk about Australia having a go but it’s not amounted to anything.

I read somewhere that only 25 days were allowed to submit a bid .
Australia were interested but couldn't get the paperwork done in that time span whereas Saudi could .
No prior warning there then .

Honestly I'd just rather go pay a fiver to watch Wombwell Town these days. I know my money's going somewhere worthwhile instead of in the pocket of some shady "PLC"

There is a David Squires cartoon on 3rd December re: Infant(ino) and the Saudi World Cup draw which you would find funny .
Unfortunately due to my lack of tech skills I cannot find a way to add it to this thread .

Who should have got it then?

It's called a WORLD cup and many countries have already had the honour. I'm pretty sure most people would just want it to tour Europe so we host, four years later Germany, four years later Italy etc.

Then why wasn't there uproar when it was in Japan, America, South Korea, South Africa or Brazil or when it was announced it's going to Canada, Morocco and Mexico?

You're right it's called a world cup which means it should travel the world. It doesn't mean it should be hosted in a country where discrimination and oppression is rife. Based on your twisted logic of morals not coming into it then Gary ******* glitter should be allowed to replace Lineker as host of match of the day.
