I used to be, but Tony Blair put an end to that. I'm now a member of the Green Party. I do however, still hate the Tories with a passion and even the most centrist (right-leaning) Labour Party ever is infinitely preferable to them. Add in Reform UK, who I'm sure will merge with the Tories before the next General Election and you've got the perfect recipe for disaster. For the sake of our democracy, we ALL have to hope that Labour is at least successful enough to beat them in 2029.

 

It was already a private company and owned by the shareholders. The government haven’t made money approving a buyout from an investor that already owned 27% of the business…

 

Every report I've read reads that the goverment had to agree the sale and put clauses in.

 

The sale needed to be approved under the National Security and Investment Act as it provides important national infrastructure and the government don’t want someone buying the business for the wrong reasons.

They can scrutinise and block any offer on the back of that. They’re not pocketing a load of cash by approving the sale - the tories did that in 2012.

 

I’ve got all his albums. Very underrated.

 

When you consider that even in the home of capitalism, the United States Postal Service is run as a not for profit organisation.

With that in mind how many shares do you believe the current labour government have just sold off?

 

I don't think the government have sold any shares, they have just allowed this bloke to buy shares (on the stock market I guess) and take over the company.

 

There is currently a plan by the incoming administration to privatize it. However, its creation was part of the Constitution - not an amendment - and would require more cooperation than they have to do that...

 

Labour haven’t sold it off for profit though, and safeguards have been included. This has been addressed in another post, which as of writing this, you haven’t responded to. Are you deliberately being thick, or just doing the #hurtingtories mantra?
