I don't feel Labour are making many friends among the older generation.
When they weren't in power they said they would vote against the Tories in mean testing the Winter fuel allowance and now after saying last year that Waspi women deserve and will get compensated if they get in power.
Whats going off with the principles Labour have set over my lifetime?

I was worried that they'd cave. Thank goodness they've told this entitled lot to do one.

Historically the Labour Party in Government have done massively more for older people than the Tories have ever done. State Pension, NHS benefits system etc etc. Given half a chance, Farage and his cronies would take it all away again. I'm no big fan of Starmer and today's Labour Party is nothing like those of the past but it is better than the alternative - for older people and the rest of the population.

I don’t get this WASPI issue.
They had 20 years to go before it took affect, essentially getting the same state pension age as blokes (who tended to die earlier anyway).
The idea of the state pension was (according to gov.uk) to be in place for approximately 30% of your lifetime.

my SPA will be 67. No way will I live to 95. If blokes get to 85 they’ve usually done well

I think because the Labour party said last year they would back and compensate the WASPI women, they get into power and turn their backs on the people they promised they would support.Same as the Winter fuel saying they would never means test it like the Tories wanted to but as soon as they're in power they turn their backs again.

It's a tough one as I don't believe a government should do a u turn on their policies without good reason but at the same time I believe they've made the correct decision.

Poor pensioners need more money, rich pensioners don't need the government to hand them a big fat Christmas bonus every year just for being born at a certain time.
The women who make up Waspi are absolute hypocrites. The aren't campaigning against state pension inequality at all. They're campaigning against the removal of state pension inequality. Getting your pension earlier just because you were born with a vagina is inequality against men, they can dress it up how they want but that's what it is. And they claim that they weren't properly informed. Well it was on the news, in newspapers and in the budget too so by their logic of that not being enough I reckon there's loads of things that the government have changed that affects me that I've only been told about by watching the TV or reading news websites. I don't remember getting a letter informing me of the change to the law regarding using mobile phones while driving but I reckon "you didn't send me a letter" would be a poor excuse in court.

They knew the situation. Of course they did. They're just trying it on and sadly too many people have encouraged them.

But the government should stick to it's promises

They have come up against the reality of what the Tories left behind.

Yes because there is no way of raising money to pay for essential public services. A tax on wealth or windfall taxes are literally impossible.

Still a smug I told you so from me. Though that doesn’t help the people left in desperate poverty

WASPI sounds like a new and improved version of Wickets And Score Prediction that they use in Cricket.

This lot seem pretty handy at taking the line of least resistance ie picking on the elderly .
The winter fuel allowance will hit loads, particularly the ones who don’t know how to apply for allowances or are too proud to do so. They seem to assume that all OAP’s have spare cash, for instance they could have announced it for next year and given folk time to prepare.
As for the Waspi issue, what’s the point of having independent bodies if they are just going to ignore the findings.
They managed to find money for the already well paid train drivers without any problem.
The Tories were a pile of crap but for me this lot aren’t shaping up very well so far either!

So far so bad under this Labour government. No better than the previous lot to press.

Folk will still be using the old chestnut about fixing Tory policies for years to come without ever placing critique on the current government.

In 2019... Johnson Truss and Sunak transferred billions of public money to their friends after that and crashed the economy.

This government have made sure the blood scandal compensation injustice has been paid for and have compensated the post office workers as well as the sticking to their word on the miners surplus.

Billions have been pumped in to the NHS and Education also those who are eligible for thousands in pension credits actively sought and supported to apply so they receive what they should be getting.

We should keep giving billions a year out to people who don't need it because people are to proud to claim? I'd much prefer those who need the extra cash receive it not waste it on folk who don't.

It wasn't in the manifesto that they were voted in on... Its ok having an opinion but you can't just make it up.

Meanwhile, the Tories managed to do just that for 14 years. And continue to blame Labour whilst not in office. What are people actually watching and listening to?

Labour have been in power for just a few months. And they can't be allowed to criticise the ***** that the Tories did. Ever. By the looks of it.

    MSM at it's absolute worst

And anytime it was said under the Tories, the stock answer was whataboutery.

Labour need to start appealing to the people who make up their normal core support. I can see a change in Leader before the end of the term.
