Cheers for that. There are a family of Wolves fans in my village as a result of that academy. Peter & Cyril Knowles were both Fitzwilliam lads and still have relatives living locally.

It's a shame that the green space across the road will soon be houses.

Only the far part - after the pylon IIRC. The bit with the football pitches isn't being built on yet.

Funnily enough when we were in Administration I believe there was a plan on the table to set up a new stadium at Cortonwood and ground share with Rotherham prior to them leaving Milmoor

Did the field in the far right corner used to be a cricket field. No knowledge of the area. Just the shape and different shade of green in the middle?

Its been farmers fields for the last 20 years - although not particularly farmed well. It might have been something else back in the days of Brampton Comp - but that's been gone for 40 years. The old leisure centre/sports hall is under the newish houses there.

The pink court is netball, the pale green grass at the side of it is crown green bowls and its Pontefract Road between the two sets of football pitches.

The field in the middle of the picture was used for cricket, Wath 3rds used to play there. My greatest sporting achievement was hitting (massive top edge) one into the Bull's Head car park to win a game.

Few of my Dad's mates used to play for Cortonwood CC in the 80s and 90s. I think they folded or merged with Wath. Sad really that a lot of the "smaller" clubs don't exist any more and get gobbled up by the bigger clubs.

There were some right characters in that Cortonwood side.
