    Its ridiculous pricing.For example tins of chocolates which are £4 everywhere are £6 or £4 if you have a Club Card.Christmas vegetables which are between 8 to 15 p in almost every supermarket,15p in Tesco with Club Card between 67p and 89 p without.It might not be a con as such its certainly a weird pricing structure.

    I hate Tescos 2 tier pricing.
    Why the hell should you pay more for the same product in the same shop?

    Agree. If you don't like it get a club card or shop somewhere else FFS. You can tell Barnsley haven't a game until Saturday :D.

    The veg in Morrisons is only the cheap price with a more card. And in Sainsburys with a Nectar Card.

    Not really. There are plenty of genuine savings and every penny you attribute to your Tesco card will go towards vouchers / money back etc so theres not a lot of reason not to use one. All of the supermarkets want people to use loyalty cards and are using such offers to get people to use them. Why? Supermarkets use the data from loyalty cards to improve their operations, marketing, and customer experience. They use this data for all of the below (and probably more):

    Behavioral Insights
    Inventory Management
    Demand Forecasting
    Product Placement
    Pricing Strategies
    Discounts and Promotions
    Customer Retention
    Building Loyalty
    Churn Reduction
    Product Development
    Identifying Trends
    Testing New Products
    Segmentation and Analysis
    Lifestyle Insights
    Partnerships and Collaboration
    Collaborative Campaigns
    Store Planning and Layout
    Regional Preferences

    So they are critical for providing a better more relevant shopping experience for anyone shopping there.

    They also keep my wife in a job

    She’s Head of Category for a food company which means she looks at the data that comes from these cards and makes recommendations to the supermarket buyers around which products in her categories are performing the best, how they can merchandise them better, how they are performing against their competitors, how they should tweak their displays or put on special offers to sell more product etc. (and probably a whole bunch of other things)

    In the main supermarket cards are a con. In my view. Inflated prices to entice becoming a member. But you can pick up the odd genuine bargain. We've picked up xmas presents that couldn't be found elsewhere anywhere near Tesco club card price.
    The co-op. Do regular frozen deals that are a very good bargain. Eg 5 items for £6. Mains sides and desserts. sometimes include Alcohol packs.

    Makes me laugh Asda/Tesco make massive profits.
    Price match Aldi or lidl on certain goods.
    Not beat lol.

    I'm surprised that they're legal as you have to be 18 to have one which means that anyone under 18 years old is forced to pay way over the odds if they shop at Tesco.

    Age 17: minimum price for item x £9.
    Age 18: minimum price for item x £4.
