At the minute I think its more because Labour have been caught out big time for kicking the elderly, personally I think they deserve a good kicking especially after looking at all the publicity pics and hearing sound bites they made posing with the Waspi women when it appears all they really wanted was publicity.
Hopefully it will prove a wake up call

No, fuel price increases have directly caused this inflation - but that doesn't fit your right wing agenda does it?

Even the so called impartial BBC are at it.
Today a farmer in Suffolk was on about pylons, saying that putting 8 on their land would make the farm unviable; no retort that the space 8 modern pylons take up is negligable and that if this was the case the farm is already unviable.

I don't support the WASPI cause but even I'd draw the line at giving them a shoeing.

Good points, but I would say that the government had a duty to write to people to tell them exactly what their particular circumstances were and simply rely on newspapers and TV programs. If you have a personal or occupational pension, and some conditions were about to change, I think the least you would expect would be to be officially notified about it.

Nope a trained economist who has worked as an economic researcher for both unions, Labour and in a private capacity. You? Relevant qualifications or experience. any knowledge of Modern monetary theory? Any background in economics at any level? I’m not talking Rachel Reeves Teaboy level genuine experience.

I think the name WASPI is probably counter productive as like you say it suggests they’re campaigning against inequality when they clearly aren’t.

There’s two issues for me. One is that they introduced it very quickly. It meant that women of that age had very little time to build any kind of pension of their own up if they weren’t expecting to need one.

The other is that Starmer & many of his cabinet have repeatedly said they will support these women. Whether you think today’s decision is correct or not this continuation of politicians that run the country lying to the general public is a disgrace. They should be aiming to be better than the Tories & not making it difficult to distinguish between the two parties.

As somebody who's still (just about) in my 30s, I'm not at all surprised that the government don't want to set a precedent for compensating people who realise too late that they won't got the state pension that they want!

I doubt most of us will even get the notice that the WASPIs are claiming is inadequate.

If we give them the benefit of the doubt that they naively backed the campaign whilst the opposition as an opportunity to raise more negative news against the Tories the lesson that all MP should learn is be careful what you back unless you know all the facts and future implications.

Fuel prices have dropped 9p per litre since June 2024. Average price then was £1.451/l and now its £1.364/l. Diesel has decreased by a similar amount. (December 2023 saw £1.43)

sorry mate but when you have multiple senior figures photographed promoting a cause ( as it turns out very cynically) that they then turn their back on, no journalist of whatever persuasion is going to turn that down.

Companies aren't going to wait until next April before acting on the budget. Or never mind will worry about that in April. Especially pubs and hospitality where its the busiest time of the year.
