Just returned after another fantastic Christmas show with the general and my 2 daughters……. Dosen’t seem like it was 2 minutes since I posted the same this time last year The 2 1/2 hour and pissing down rain was definitely worth it……Jason Manford and Ben Nickless are absolutely superb showmen, you can’t beat live shows like this, the odd missed line and the odd prop dropping off made for a cracking night….what a venue too, anyone living over that way or after a Christmas trip this year then I would highly recommend, great for the kids but some top adult humour too!! All round good evening (even though we had to have a maccies tea cos we couldn’t make it to our table for food cos of the traffic)
Me and the kids will be going to the one at the Lyceum in Sheffield on Sunday, as we have done ever since my eldest was 2 (she’s now 19). We really look forward to it, mainly cos of Damien Williams who plays the dame. He won awards for doing a one man show as Tommy Cooper and that’s similar to how he plays the dame. He’s absolutely brilliant. They stopped having a special guest comic, after Knutty retired, cos they don’t need one, as Williams is the star everyone goes to see. Funnily enough, our first one there was also his first one, so this is his 17th year and he’s confirmed for next year. The Lyceum will have a big problem when he leaves the production, so expect to see a very big guest star that first year, to stop ticket sales falling off We’ll be sitting suitably far enough away from the stage to blur into the distance. Haven’t sat on the front row since I took a custard pie to the mush from Paul Chuckle, seemingly in front of every kid in Penistone, considering how many kids came up to me in the playground, when I was dropping my kids off, to tell me how funny it was!
Last year was our first tbh, ours are 10 & 17 and I’m a bit gutted we’ve not been doing it for years previously too…….I’ve been looking forward to tonight since I booked it about a month ago
Elf at Leeds Arena on Christmas eve. Young uns just been to watch Wicked in London for the umpteenth time, £85 a ticket.
Great to see you have all had great times. But please remember Barnsley has 3 theatres doing pantos. May not be the top main stars. But kids don't need famous tv names. They'll absolutely love the productions. I've done the lamproom over the last few yrs with the Grandkids (and their parents and uncles lol) And a great time is had by all. Same with the Parkway cinema. The barnsley public have supported this venue regardless of the modern cinema.
Saw "Jack and the Beanstalk" at Take 2 theatre in Birdwell. Absolutely hilarious with a few Simpsons like adult jokes thrown in. I'd highly recommend it if there are any tickets left.
Glad you enjoyed it. My daughter is playing Jill in this production. We went a couple of weeks ago. I’m not a Panto fan as it goes but this one is very funny.
