Id guess that we signed him on a decent wack so maybe and hopefully his retirement has reduced his wages to an average L1 coach, because we really shouldn't be paying a novice coach top money.

I'm sure his, and the club's, intention in the summer was that he would be playing, maybe not all the time but would play. Perhaps as he's trained, and in the few games he has played, he's realised he's just not got the legs for it anymore. Compounded by the fact that he's not playing, so the situation isn't going to improve. It's not too hard to believe that. Last season is irrelevant. He's only 33 but that doesn't mean it's not true. Why would he end his playing career if he still had plenty left in the tank? I don't believe he would.

Yeah that’s fair. I’m not questioning Conor’s integrity. More the way the ‘signing’ was positioned by the Club. I don’t think the timing of any of that with the ST timelines was a coincidence. I think it was very intentional. If he’d returned as a coach only, the fanfare would have probably been very different. The thought of being flanelled by creative PR just never sits well with me. Whatever the circumstances.

Not if you watch the interview with Conor it didn't. I have absolutely no reason to question his integrity. Comes across as being as honest a bloke as you could ever meet in football.

just another lie and treating fans like chimpanzees to add to the long list of bull sh*t and having us for idiots

The Connor fanfare making out he was coming to play for us before the season was to shift season tickets of those not renewed and sitting on the fence and nothing else that was the sole reason, he was never going to play but as long as it got another 700 season tickets sold then the trick worked

Connor now sits on the longest bench in football history with more coaches than national express, probably lined up for the cheap option managers job at BFC when the inevitable happens

do we really need a set piece coach specialist to show Luca Connell on £8k a week on how to deliver a ball into the box from a corner or a free kick ? These are professional footballers, I could chip a ball into the box effectively with my slippers on I don’t need Connor showing me how ! Bet Clarke is constantly looking over his shoulder at Connor waiting in the wings

    new manger
    Cheap option
    Fans favourite
    Knows the club
    Bring the youth through
    Blah blah blah

welcome Connor the next BFC manager

We must be the only club in the country to hype up signings to generate interest and sales. NOT.
Nonsense like many of the posts on this thread are why I post less and less on here.

Personally I'd have loved for him to have played a bit. But it wasn't to be. We have probably one of the most competitive CM in the division.

And, we have all wanted him back at the club in some capacity, and coaching is where it's currently at. Who knows what in future.

But I'd rather him be at the club than not be here.

clarke was getting asked repeatedly in interviews about it and made it clear he was here to coach that was a couple of months ago now at least.

Imo our midfield is good enough if he want to retire and coach instead good luck.

Firstly, do you have any evidence of Conor's wage?

Secondly, you do realise every club in the football pyramid has set piece coaches? Arsenal and Brentford's are outstanding.
