Conceding 4 at home to a small team who’ve spent the last few years in League 2 is unforgivable. The wrong appointment & back to square one again. Clarke cannot survive this.
DC was a very strange appointment in the first place, he has to make a lot of emergency substitutions due to wrong starting line ups. I don't think he'll be gone tonight though.
Yep sorry was firmly in for giving Clarke time but to oversee a team who have actively given up at Oakwell then I can’t see any way of keeping him in the role and I’m sorry the whole coaching team needs to be received I think cos pound for pound the more we have employed the worse we have become. bet Neil Collins is laughing his **** off somewhere at the moment.
I don’t think he should, but after that result ai wouldn’t rule it out! Especially as they have CH they could appoint as a cheap option.
That wasn't just a poor performance, there was a complete breakdown to the team. There was no structure, players didn't know what they should be doing, there was no instruction on how to deal with the conditions. There's something really wrong. Recruitment has been poor, but the players we have shouldn't be that bad. There are serious problems with the instructions they're receiving and that double substitution in the first half was bonkers. Did Clarke really not see what little DKD and Humphrys were offering?
I think he'll be gone before New Year with Hourihane named as "Interim head coach" or similar, we'll then go on a fantastic run, squeeze into the playoffs on the last day and get promoted at Wembley with a stunning strike by Hammill (who will be Hourihane's first signing in January having somehow become 10 years younger). Or summat.
Undeniable being as he is part of the current coaching set up, that’s just the way I could see it going,
Still don't think Clarke is the problem. We have too many players that just aren't good enough, or not quite developed to level they need to be at. Several transfers needed in January - in both directions.
I think it was a panicked attempt to say that he wasn't afraid to use earlier substitutions if he thought it wasn't going right. Unfortunately he drew them out of a hat and ended up taking players off who weren't doing too badly. Won't be surprised if Craig never plays for us again, Spurs will recall him after that debacle
