I must admit I’m at a loss to understand where we are going with this team. I was thrilled about today. Not just the win but the overall performance and the desire of the players as a collective to ‘stand up and be counted’. I recognise that we lack quality all over the pitch and there’s nothing the player’s can do about that and frankly, not much the Coach can do about that either - it’s down to others (who are currently failing), but setting aside the lack of quality at the Club, how is we can turn in such different performances in terms of commitment, desire and fight. I just don’t get it. Just seeing that level of commitment and desire individually and collectively each time the players pull on that Red shirt, would be enough for me at the moment. It might even make going down to Oakwell a pleasure once again.
It’s incredible when you compare our home and away form in 2024. Even the performances in the last 2 games are night and day. Today we showed guts and a willingness to go “at” the opposition. Great performance and a great 3 points. Now to repeat it against Peterborough.
I think above all the lads showed they are behind Clarke and responding to him. I am not convinced yet,but that was as good as we have played for a while, hopefully Kelechi(can’t spell his second name) as now nailed a starting place and hopefully this win can be real springboard because although Bolton aren’t pulling up any trees, this is a great away win.
Maybe Clarke should get them in for clear the air talks after every game if today's performance is anything to go by
We are a handful of decent L1 players short of being a top side at this level, that's what is missing. If we had a top end L1 keeper, a top striker or two we'd be fine I think.
Yeah agreed. I thought first half we were quite well matched even though we had a goal disallowed for nothing. But second half the players came out absolutely firing, just like they did against Exeter. I don’t think that points to a lost dressing room, the opposite should be true in fact.
To be honest, I think our biggest issue is the gifts that we provide in defence. When Humphrys, DKD and Phillips link up like they did today, it’s very easy on the eye and clinical. We are probably missing a poacher type finisher though in terms of goal scoring striker. Maybe we can pick a premier league loanee out for that.
We were poor on Saturday no doubt about that and non of what I'm going say can excuse that. The conditions were terrible two soft goals from corners and a **** up from mdg. I didn't think because of that game we were going down as much as today's performance doesn't mean we are going up. We are much more suited to when teams have a go at us we struggle to break defensive sides down I think there in lies the difference between home and away. We need to solve that problem or we are going nowhere.
We’ve got the same players, owners and coaches at home as we have away. Either playing at Oakwell in front of our fans is the issue, or we are still seen as a scalp at home and other teams up their game against us…
Need a proper 9 for me. When those three are on it they are really great. But none are proper out and out 9s so they want to drop in and pick up the ball etc. When it doesn't work, they are so easy to mark out of games. We need a proper striker that can stretch teams but also score goals
