Gets better and better every time I watch it. So good in fact, that it deserves its own thread. The touch by Humphrys to bring Phillips into play, the pass from Phillips into DKD who brings down a very awkward ball to take while running, and then readjusts to give himself the space and angle to finish. Every single bit of the move was world class. If Man City or Liverpool had scored that goal, the MOTD team would be w@nking over it for the rest of the season.
It was excellent. I'd be interested to see how many of our chances come from one of Mael's interceptions high up the pitch or him bringing it out of defence. When he's on song he's an absolute joy to watch. It's just a pity his tackling is so weak and he's so poor at holding his line when defending deeper. Personally, I think he'd make a world class futsal player.
The winner wasn't bad either. The last 10 minutes confirms my view of Phillips, when he clicks he's fantastic at this level.
I was happy watching the Phillips / DKD interplay earlier. Now I've got to go back and watch Humphreys' contribution. I was happy watching the Humphreys / Phillips / DKD interplay earlier. Now I've got to go back and watch MdG's contribution.
Yeah the second goal had quality as well didn't it. I like seeing quick free kicks like that work out, when its played round the side of the wall and whipped in. Their players were certainly caught out!.
And you're forgetting the lovely curving ball from Mael mate. Incredible goal from back to front! Edit - according to my phone this got commented 4 times so apologies if double post anywhere. Cant see them anymore and changed it to a '.'
Really well worked https://x.com/TheDailyTyke2/status/1872581032479957481?t=MNkbImuQB3Jf9JG_awCF1A&s=19
Speaking of their goal, Im afraid I can't defend Killip there. He's got to be stronger than that, and it looks like weak keeping.
This is a super view of the second goal. Loved the weight on Nwakali's pass and the fact he had a very narrow gap to thread the ball through. https://x.com/i/status/1872597817136722291
Has anyone spotted the "foul" that disallowed our first half goal? I've watched several times and I've not seen anything apart from the the usual grappling from both sets of players which is usually ignored.
MDG held a player back with grip resembling the Heimlich manoeuvre. That's not usually ignored. What usually happens is Sam Cosgrove tries to wriggle free, which is a free kick to the opposition.
