An alternative to Barnsley holding out after a terrible second half is that it would have been game over a lot earlier but for their keeper making an excellent save at his near post from DKD and Phillips sparing the keeper's blushes when he beat him to the ball only to put it wide.

Let's hope Barry is not seriously injured. He looked in some pain.

A combination of playing a top 2 team, being 2 up, our home record and the conditions meant the second half was always going to be a battle. I think the subs show who Clarke trusts for a battle and who he doesn't.

Anyway - we've won three on the spin with the group who two weeks ago everybody was writing off. Two beauties, too

Still don't think we're a particularly brilliant football team and are far too reliant on individual bits of brilliance but 6th all things considered feels positive. Fair play.

    Good first half

Second half I was a bit iffy over the sub choices. Personally thought we could of gone for them more but then again ref didn't help ignoring everything going our way which lead to alot of their attacks.

3 Hard wins on the bounce. I don't think no teams in this league would get 9 points out of the 3 fixtures we've had.

    You reds

Laughable that response, it’s quite obvious why he’s subbed best 2 players, they not fit enough to play more than hour. He’s not daft pal, what would you have done?, kept them on and risked either injury or a mistake that could have cost us match because they were foooked?.....I am sure he noticed as you and everyone else did that they had played very well first half.

Presumably both weren’t fully fit and they thought they’d manage 55 mins. Hence the change.

Pines made sense to counter their physical threat. The absence of a forward as effective as Watters is a stark shortage in the squad.

Erm, why don't people know how to respond to a genuine opinion? 'Laughable' - talk to your family like that, our your best mate, see how they react. Learn to act like a decent human being and I'll answer you.

It's actually 16 games without a win a Oakwell for Wrexham. Has it been mentioned, they've never won here. Proper bogey team us.

He was on the pitch celebrating with the crowd at the end so hopefully not too serious

Today could just be the sort of performance and result the team needs to kick off a decent bit of home form. The goals were absolutely top quality and the grit and fight shown in the second half were what's needed against some of the better teams in this division.

    COME ON YOU REDS!!

Really good advert of league one football that. 2 decent sides both showing qualities. We schooled them first half and then defended well enough to win. Happy New Year

Some people seem to be suggesting that Clarke nearly cost us the game with 2nd half tactics/substitutions. However, it is possible that different substitutions might have cost us as the game would have panned out differently. Wrexham may have scored 3 or 4. We'll never know unless we're in that parallel universe though. Basically, because we won Clarke's tactics ended up being correct!

I get that, but he subbed them 7 minutes into the second half. Neither looked like they were incapable of running anymore. You give them both 15 or 20 minutes. I am sure it was a planned substitution, but he didn't give the team a chance to settle and the initial impetus Wrexham were always going to have after going 2-0 down and a bollocking from their manager was prolonged for the entire second half because we disrupted our side while they were on top.

Perhaps it was an Oscar deserving performance of pain and anguish, just to allow him to limp off and take his time. Good old Barry.

It is a bit laughable to say that Clarke genuinely tried to ensure that we lost. Second half was definitely a nailbiter but still a game that needs to be enjoyed, we certainly found a different way to win today mate.
