I'm adamant you only try add negativity or something to find fault with on anything remotely positive or joyous on here mate A fantastic victory. What a night he will have - I suspect he will have hell of a lot more nights like these with his talent. Unbelievably good
Watched it with my dad tonight in the pub. It was just unbelievable. Go for the 20s, Oh I've covered that, 19s without even a pause, covered that too, so I'll go for the 18s, no readjustmebnt, bish, bash, bosh, three darts in under 10 seconds. Trebles, doubles, bulls, hit 'em, hit 'em, hit 'em. Utterly insane. Just amazing. Amazing.
He does seem to be believing his own hype but in all fairness he’s every bit as good as everyone makes him out to be. The hype is justified, and some. He’s been on the full tour a year. He’s world champion and ranked two in the world after only playing every tournament only once except the worlds - he’s not going to lose any money off his ranking all year as it’s a rolling two year list. Which to all intents and purposes makes him relatively likely to become world number one in the next twelve months as Humphries is going to lose money or maintain, he had an unbelievable 2023, whilst Littler will only winning and increasing his ranking money. He’s 17. He’s a good kid that’s respectful to people but who backs himself. He’s entitled to be a lot more arrogant than he is. He’s a lot less insufferable than most 17 year old lads (and I know plenty, my son and his mates) - the difference being he is genuinely world class in his field and a millionaire on his own merit. All that said forget the money, forget the talent, I wish I had the emotional maturity and grace he has at seventeen when I was that age. If I wasn’t showing off and trying to attract women I had no chance with I was chundering up my wages which is invariably just binge drank through.
He looked very humble at the end of the match. The lads a winner and he should be very proud of himself.
I dont find Littler over arrogant. I think any successful person and especially sports person needs to have enough arrogance to believe in themselves first and foremost. It's a trait some cultures value as positive but we seem to have a dislike for a winning arrogance. Our press especially like to drag the winners down. I think Littler should believe is hype, after all after 1 year pro, ~10 trophies, world champ, motivating a whole new generation of kids to the sport maybe the hype is real. I hope he stays successful for the next few years and at the same time we see a new generation of talent emerge around him that challenges his crown.
A few of the comments on here are super odd. If you can’t take some joy from watching a 17 year old live out his dream then there’s summat up with you. He seems very confident indeed….and so he should be ! Don’t mistake that for arrogance. He’s also inspiring a whole new generation to play the sport. He’s simply brilliant in both technique and temperament.
Think you also have to factor in he clearly feels uncomfortable as in not really sure what to say and how to act as this has quickly been thrust upon him, it’s not like he grew through the ranks winning some smaller tournaments, gradually exposing him to media.
A think some of the established pro’s have gave him way too much ‘sporting respect’ these last few games, high 5’s fist pumps etc but you have to think there probably full of admiration for a lad who’s less than half there age. His unconventional finishing, his constant 140+ 3 dart shots and his sheer ferocity make him potentially one of the greats at just 17!!! I suspect there in awe of his natural talent hence why they offer such respect and for that it’s to be applauded really.
Totally agree pal, he his a phenomenon, his favourite checkout seems to be double Top because he knows he misses that he gets double 10 with his eyes shut virtually.
Nathan Aspinall and Littler are good friends and Aspinall struggles with dartitis/yips. Think the humour and fist bumping etc helped him to get on with the game when he was clearly struggling at times.
I’m not knocking them but I’ve not seen as much fist pumping to a player than Littler before, I’m not sure Taylor or Barney in there prime would’ve offered such respect during a game
Wouldn’t it have the opposite effect if you start trying to upset Littler? The crowd turns on you & I’d imagine it puts you off your own game if you’re trying to act different. Got to remember most of these players are on decent terms. They’re behind the scenes together at tournaments all over the country. Littler, Aspinall & Van Gerwen for example spent time together pretty much every week for four months during the premier league.
Maybe they fist bump etc. because they're actually decent people and don't want to bully a 17 year old...
I stand corrected. I've just seen the 19 year old kid carrying on for Australia against India - Konstas. Should be Kunstas. I take it all back, Little is like James Milner compared to him.
He’s got the potential to be the best ever, fame and fortune can ruin some people though. He won’t have really found drinking yet at least not legally! That gets me thinking how come he can be plastered in sponsors but our so called wonderkif( who really isn’t) couldn’t have our shirt sponsor on his shirt?
