We're on a brilliant run, 5th in the table, an outstanding Christmas and New Year period. But there'll be a time when we lose two and draw two and we look useless. When this happens let's not call for sackings and start abusing players. No we aren't perfect. Sometimes there's seemingly odd substitutions or selections. But there's a gaffer who's trying to get his balls off to get results. I'm pretty sure we'll finish in the top six, we seem to be improving as the season goes on. Oh and I see Scott didn't post yesterday. just chill art.
Can’t agree more, we have lengthy debates on our WhatsApp groups and I remind the lads, listen, if these players who make mistakes were better they’d be playing in a higher league……a think as fans we sometimes have to cut our cloth accordingly and that doesn’t mean accept **** week on week but have some patience like you say.
Pre-Xmas there was plenty of sensible debate on here, where several posters were agonising between the need to stick with a gaffer long-term and a lack of conviction that Clarke had what it takes to string together some positive results. Admittedly it was hard to find between the rants and knee-jerk reactions, but it was there. I think the response to the Leyton Orient debacle shows that the players are behind Clarke, working really hard, and that there is potential to improve much further still. For spells yesterday and for the first time (at home at least), we looked like a team that really expected to control the game and win well. I agree with your sentiment, this run should make up the minds of anyone who was on the fence about whether DC deserves a proper crack of the whip - regardless of whether they disagree with specific decisions. We've got to stick with one at some point, and for me he's earned the right now. Going back to the "where will we be on Jan 1st" thread, we're objectively doing much better than most predicted. Let's get behind him to carry on the good work.
You’re obsessed pal, it’s not going to be good for your health with me on your mind 24/7…. I said the other day once the home form turns around I’ll start to give Clarke the credit he’s due, until then 2 home wins on the trot doesn’t make up for the dross from August - December. We went 3-0 up and still let Crawley back in the game to the point I was clock watching from 75’ mins’, that still shouldn’t be happening… In all honest yesterday’s game could’ve ended 6-3, it was still wasn’t a complete 90 minute performance. 4 wins in a row is spot on though, not going to grumble at that…
I forgot the game ended 3-2 with us clinging on for dear life. Must have missed that. Injury time was horrendous with us holding on to that tenuous lead.
We’d already moved on to the next game which made Crawley look good for a few minutes,no way were we in danger of dropping points
Give him a break. You know full well that we were were cr*p for the last 20 or so. His post was fair imo. We're all fans of BFC at the end of the day, New Year and all that. COYR
We'd won the game. Job done. Just chilled out and managed it for the last portion. Didn't concede. No dramas. And you know why people poke fun at him. Cos he's the most negative poster in the history of the board. Every time we concede he's on in a millisecond telling us how rubbish we are and how Clarke and before that Collins are Satan reincarnated. Yet when we win and play well then he vanishes quicker than Andy Dufresne. The main point of my post is patience. The mood swings from game to game are such overreactions.
Agree with the OP far too much knee Jerk stuff either way losing or winning, very long way to go, been a good little run and it's says alot about a team more how they respond to defeats
I was avocating just that post Orient that performance was unacceptable but it wasn't the end of the world either. We've just had 4 great wins but it doesn't mean we are are going to win the the league either. I personally don't think this squad as it stands is good enough to get us out of this league but with a good summer I think next season could be a different story.
Been good to see Clarke jumping up and down and waving his arms like a demented hummingbird in an attempt to spur the players on..at least he looks like he gives a sh*t....we still need to stop trying to defend for the last third of a game. we're crap at it...
Its a medical procedure but one has to go to Turkey as its not on the nhs. Can be very painful but ultimately rewarding.
The gaffer started a rested Nwakali, who set up the first goal & was instrumental. We brought on Connell, our captain, who had been rested & our CB talisman, Roberts for vital game time. Crawley were a good side going forward, other than some of their finishing & some brilliant saves from Killip, who the gaffer stuck with, after the Orient game & rightly so. We won 3-0, a 4th win in a row. If anyone is unhappy, I think they are going a bit "Wednesday".
