Love him or loathe him, fair play for him to do this. I feel he’s a victim of his own success there. They’ve spent 58 of their 64 years in the bottom 2 divisions, currently get gates sub 9k, yet the expectation is clearly high, based on regular top half finishes and the odd promotion/playoff season during his tenure. https://www.youtube.com/live/qEjKJNR4aHg?si=m4u_L6thgeamiw1A
The archetypal lower league club who have punched above their weight for a handful of seasons. And yet they and their fans believe they are at least as good if not better than BFC and are still aggrieved over Huddersfield-gate.
I recall a few years ago he bought a house in the Bahamas and thanked the fans for contributing to it. If that had been a Barnsley board member he /she would have been hung drawn and quartered. He comes over as a very bitter man where he feels football owes him a favour.
Whilst he may not have the greatest personality, can’t help think he explains quite well the intricacies of recruitment/transfers etc that a few on here could do with watching.
He’s done well to buy a house out of supporters money. Since he took a share in Posh they have lost £14m.
A few fans everywhere really. Lots is made of him getting loads of money for players, but the conversation about the upcoming player sale is quite telling - something along the lines of ‘We won’t get £20m for him, but we reckon he’s cost us £1.2 million in fee and wages, so we’ll get that back plus we’ll be building in sell on fees’. Still salty about Barnsley FC I notice, which is quite funny. If I was him, my response to everything would be ‘I gave you a great team, that was 4-0 up in a play off semi final. What more can I do?’
