Is something happening with it? On Saturday they had finally started the job of clearing the jungle in there.
I remember walking past it when we were in championship years ago with decent gates. Said to my dad the club should buy it make a boozer/fan zone with it for match days. Wouldn't work at minute unless we got promoted and bigger gates.
I dunno, if you could get a couple of hundred people on there drinking rather than in town, you wouldn't need bigger gates, just a redistributing of where fans enjoy their pre-match/post-match pint(s).
That's what I thought at the time aswell you could have the open area so if there was a big game when the weather is decent or play off game accommodate loads outside.
Approved planning permission for 32 dwellings was granted to a Mr Carl Lee in 2015. Amendments were approved to the conditions in 2019.
Think it had planning permission for 30-odd houses approved on it a few years ago, not sure if this permission has lapsed now or if they managed to implement the permission within the time period and are now looking to start going with it. Could be that someone just wanted to have some fun chopping some vegetation down though.
I don’t see how a pub could be profitable unless the club were comfortable with it running at a loss which I highly doubt. There’s probably about 15 Saturday afternoon games & some of them are in the middle of winter when not many people want a good booze before a match.
It’s possible the chopping down vegetation is classed as “making a start” this then ensures planning permission remains valid and does not lapse
