Not really a derelict school as it was flattened years ago, an overgrown wasteland where there used to be a school more like.

    That doesn’t count.

Foundations dug out and put in place/signed off does.

Hence why you see sites where footings have been put in, then left for years with nothing else done.

Used to live opposite, old school was listed. Conveniently for some, it was set on fire. Due to the then structural safety of it, demolition was allowed to take place. Originally, any planning apps had to use the existing structure of the school and it was planned for flats/apartments.

There was a tv show which actually showed a company removing the stone that the school was built in due to its value. I'll try and find a link.

All a bit sad. My eldest daughter went to nursery class at the Grove Street school. She's in her 30s now with a little boy of her own, but it seems like only yesterday...

Both my parents went there, a few years before World War Two began. I was sad when it was knocked down. I thought about them every time I passed the school on my way to and from the match.

It was but on the flip side I always thought it a haven for wildlife with it being very dense.

Some maybe, other birds & insects also. I looked at it as a mini eco system.
